I was aware that the KR could have the split bench from the first '02 brochure we saw late last summer. When we went to the dealer, they couldn't even order one yet as it was "Late Availability." So we had to wait until it finally showed up in the dealers computer as a part number when ordering.

We have two kids and it just wasn't practicle with the four captains as we couldn't take at least one other person with us or bring home one of the kids friends. I wouldn't be surprised if the dealers only order the bench for stock and those who want the captains will have to special order them from now on.

Our '02 we ordered and received in Jan has the rounded, curved handles.

hey guys,

you all have me confused. i just looked at my front grab handles and they appear to me to be a mix of round and rectangular. where you grab the handle it is completely flat/straight but the edges where it attaches to the A pillar are rounded. so, i can't figure out whether i have the weird ones or not. somebody wanna set me straight on this??

btw, the truck was built in october '01 and is an '02 model.

ps...the rear handles are rounded.

Here's a pic from my gallery, it looks like the wife's has the squareish handles. My Expi has the rounded ones. We got the King Ranch 3-4 weeks ago. I think the handle placement is better in the King Ranch, I haven't passed judgement on the shape though.

Oh and Uhhh, just wanted to comment, ours has the split bench in the back. It's much more practical, for us anyway. Can hual Me, the Wife, kid in the car seat, and the inlaws. It's pretty cool.

ummm, so who actually wants to haul around the in-laws anyways? hehehe...I am lucky I have no in-laws.....that is why I opted for the four captains chairs....less room for ride beggers....I also prefer the look of the captains chairs, but it is nice that we have the option for those who need the bench.

Hey, one advantage of the captains chairs in the back is you get another one of those HUGE consoles for storage. They should have made it a built in powered cooler for those lunches out in the field lol.

Yup, and with the power already available in the area... they need to toss in a POWER REAR WINDOW. GEESH, I could just kick ford...

They won't let me take my leaky stock sliding glass and replace it with a power slider with me paying the difference. Warranty work, so they say, is for the EXACT SAME PART PERIOD. NO EXCEPTIONS. Seems like they'd be anxious to take more $$ out of my pocket. No such luck.

Oh well... I still love er'.
