Question Question

First, Is the F-150 smaller than the Chevy Silverado and Dodge Ram? Second, is the King Ranch the Cadillac of ford's fullsive pickups? Is it available with a regular cab and eight foot box/bed? What makes it different from other F-150 trucks? BTW, Almost forgot, I just registered. I'm the forum newbie.

Welcome !

I will leave the actual answer to the "Truckies" who are more in tune with all the different brands than I am.

By the way the rest of you....something interesting is suddenly happening this side of the Atlantic.

Within the last few months there are noticeably more trucks around than ever before.
In all honesty trucks per se as we talk about them on this forum are a rare sight on our roads.
But just now in the rural farming communities there are a lot more...admittedly more are the dare I say the word (Mitsubishi) but in time I think they will make an impact.

I am not a truckie persay, but I will try and answer a couple of your questions.

comparing sizes of the KR vrs. other brands? I will let the men answer the size question

As of 2002 the KR is only available in the screw and scab versions....and you can't get a scab flareside version either. sorry no regular cab yet.....maybe next year cause 2001 you could only get a KR as a screw.

And the most obvious difference (oops yes spelling problems again) is the seats. The KR has the most awsome saddle seats that you have ever set your rear end in. then of course there are the colors...only three available....and the KR badges on the fenders...and the tailgate if ya have a 02.

oh and becoming a KR owner automatically will make you obsessive about your truck as you will fall in love with him/her, buy him/her gifts on major holidays, name him/her and speak of him/her as if him/her were a person leaving your friends, family and co-workers confused.

almost forgot...welcome to our family...we will soon be setting up a weekly meeting to discuss obsesive compulsive disorders.

actually I am kidding about the weekly meeting thing!

I don't know. Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Dodge Ram 1500, 2002 editions look better, and bigger. I'd have to say they'd all be around the same size. BTW, in pickup terms it not a big three, it's a big four. GMC Sierra is the forgotten legend. It could perform up to par with the others, and maybe even out do them. Also in terms of medium duty truck (commercial), it's a big three between Chevy's C-Series, GMC's C-Series, and Ford's F-650/750. Do you think I'd be better off going with the Ford F-250 Super Duty? I hate supercabs and crewcabs. The perfect F-150 would be black clearcoat, with dark graphite interior. 5.4l V8 engine. Limited slip rear axle. 4X4 off road package. With some chrome fittings. Flareside, 6'1/2" box. With all terain 4X4 tires and cool chrome wheels. What do you think?

Welcome to F150Online.

One of the major choice factors between the SD and LD Fords is how much stuff you need to haul and how often? Once this is answered, then you can start to narrow it down further.

I like the superduty's because their big and powerful. I don't need to haul anything, just be for my own liesure. The big four of light duty trucks are all the same size. It's just that the new 2002 Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado 1500/GMC Sierra are fresh and original for the new season. The F-150 has looked like it has since 1997, so it's old. I think I might buy a Ram 1500. If not that, a F-250 super duty, regular cab, black clearcoat, power stroke diesel truck.

well, hate to break it to ya cjackson745, but ford discontinued the offroad package in 2002. It was replace with the FX4 package...which by the way is a more expensive upgrade.....and a black truck?....all i have to say is man they are gorgeous, but i wouldn't want to be the only having to clean it everyday. oh and
i agree w/ya. I absolutely love the look of the flareside.http://content.communities.msn.com/G...to&PhotoID=434

A good reference...

This month's issue of MOTOR TREND compares the Chevy, Dodge, F150 KR, and the Toyota. Pretty good comparison head to head. Check it out.

By the way... just for the record, the KR won.

if you don't need to haul anything do you just plan on being a posuer with this truck or what? why spend that much extra money and never actually use the darn thing for it's intended use. and o, if you want the caddy of trucks then the lincoln blackwood is what you should be looking for and if you want the baddest truck out there then an f-350 dually longbed crew cab with diesel is what you should be looking for. for a sweet city truck then the king rach can't be beat with that sweet interior that is second to none.

That's a nice truck. Thanks for the pic. I just can't stand that bright yellow color ford puts on their concept and new model vehicles. The thing that puts me off about the King Ranch-150 is that it's not available with a flareside box. I don't think it's available in the black clearcoat I like. That beige interior, in my opinion, wouldn't go well with the black exterior color. It's just not as good as dark graphite. Now in regards to the F-Superduty's, I don't think that they are primarily ment for work, They are stylish, powerful, good looking, and big. All the things that people look for in a truck. As I said before, I only want it for my liesure. Though, I'm still considering Dodge.
