Lightbulb Tailgate badge vs. fender badge?

ok, after almost waiting three months for it I finally have it.....my correct tailgate KR badge. As some of you know i bought my 2002 KR September 31, 2001 and for some reason they didn't put a KR badge on my tailgate like they were supposed to so I had to order one to have the problem corrected. In any case some of you wanted to know the difference between the tailgate badge and the fender badge. Well, i have sitting in front of me both badges....at first glance they are axactly the same....from the side the fender badge is noticably thicker then the tailgate badge. turn the badges around and the plugs on the tailgate badge are set farther apart then the fender badge....other then those two things the badges are exactly the same. If all goes well with the weather i will be taking my truck to ohio to have the badge put on.

I ordered a tailgate emblem last week. Should be here Thursday. I'm curious to see if I get a 'fender' or 'tailgate' badge. I'll post pics... don't you worry.

I'm thinking about doing what Lent (I think it was Lent) did and chop the 'f150' off and just have the KR badge mounted above the F150SUPERCREW badge on the tailgate. Not sure if I have the testicular fortitude to cut it though. $33 pieces of plastic are tough to buy.

Yes it was me......and if I can do it then I am sure you can....without Testicular Fortitude...whatever that is!

When I was at school (Yes they had them then)....I was taught things like Latin.....nothing useful like how to put a nail in a piece of wood.
So as I say if I can you can.
Hold badge vertically, junior hacksaw, and a minute later there you are.
Smooth the edge and paint to match (Only needed by the pernickety) or as I did a bit of silver duct tape which was virtually the same colour.

Yea! I just got my tailgate emblem installed. The foam tape was a major pain in the *** to get off. I ended up having to use a clothes iron to soften it up (I don't have a hair dryer because I am single and don't have any hair). After about half an hour of clean up, I finally was able to stick the new one on there. It looks much better now. Now I guess I have a 2002, as that and the electronic climate control are the only differences.

Did you get a correct tailgate badge, or did you have to snip the pegs off like I did on my fender badge that I got from EBay and put on the rear?

Hey Lent,

You said you got yours off ebay? From Discountmustangparts? If so, I suppose mine's going to be the fender badge as well... I'll let you all know when it arrives. (which should've been today)

Yes....that's correct as to the source.
As I remember he wasn't very good on the communication side of things but the part did arrive on time and OK.
It WAS the fender badge, but the 2 little posts on the back which do not match up with the tailgate holes easily snip off, and the self adhesive tape seemes to be quite strong enough to hold the badge on its own.

Don't you think we ought to have a separate chapter.

"2001 KR Owners who have tried to make their vehicles look like 2002 models by placing KR Fender Badge on Tailgate where it shouldn't really fit"

Pretty catchy huh ?!

Pretty exclusive too !

the other diference between my 2002 and the 2001 besides the climate control....which by the way is just wonderful....and the tailgate badge is also the 4x4 stickers on the rear fender.....mine only says 4x4 while the 2001 says 4x4 with the words offroad under it.

If I had those, they would have been taken off by now anyway.
