KR Seat Problems...

Has anyone else had any problems with their seats coming unbuckled on the back? It's happend twice now and I don't want this to become a persistant problem.

If you're familar with our seats, the leather wraps around the front (where you sit) to the rear and latches (with a flimsy piece of plastic) with the portion of the seat that is the saddle bag. That junction of the leather is where I'm talking about. I tried (half-heartedly) to latch the two pieces back together however was unsucessful.

I guess my question is: Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a simple way to fix it (because it sure seems like a monster to try to latch that entire plastic 'hinge' from top to bottom)? Thanks, as usual, for the help!!

Yes, I had this problem a number of times, mostly when I fold down the rear seats, as they fit tightly up against the back of the front seats. It took me awhile to figure out the plastic hinge mechanism too, but I finally got it to stay put. I haven't had it be a problem in about a month now, knock on wood.

I too don't want it to be a persistent problem. If I were you, I would just try to figure out the plastic attachment mechanism. That is about the only remedy I know of.

thanks...

I'm at the point that, if it persists, I'm going to pitch a hissy fit and see if I can score a new seat. I just want them to 'give me one' though. I'll do the install. That way I can keep my old seat. LMAO. Wishful thinking never hurt anyone.

It is discouraging that others are having this problem though. Hopefully some big exec at Ford is reading this post going, "ya know, maybe we need to engineer that better..."

Doubt it....but, again, wishful thinking.

My drivers seat back came unbuckled. I thought it was because a friends rug rat had been kicking the seat back when we went to a football game. It took some time to get it put back in place. Does anyone have an easy way to reconnect this?

Nope, doesn't sound like it was the rug rat kicking your seat (however, I'm sure it didn't help). I believe it's a problem with our trucks. My salesman mentioned that he had sold 'both of the King Ranch F-150s' that this dealership had received and BOTH of them had been brought back to tend to the seats. And, as you can see, you and I aren't the only two on here with this problem. *shrugs* I might try to finangle that thing back together tomorrow. I've tried once and it sure seems like it'll be a BIZNITCH!

Well, after about an hour and a half of cussing at, screaming at, and threatening my driver's seat, I managed to snap that little booger back together. Judging by this post, I think we have found one of the few weak points of our trucks. That snap system is AWFUL! There must be a better way...

Anyone know of a trick to get that thing back together once it comes apart again? At this point in time, it's averaging coming apart once every 3 months. Nothing like messing with the damn thing once per quarter.

Grrr...

I had this same problem. The last time I fixed it, I undid the other end and reached in behind the pouch and connected the side that was already undone and then reconnected the side I had undone to get behind the pouch. It went together much easier than any other time and still haven't had a problem with it.Maybe I just got lucky, but what the heck, maybe I figured it out.Try it what do have to lose?Hope I explained well enough.Good luck

everyone who has this problem might want to report it to BBB and planetfeedback.com to see if you can maybe make this a recall issue as it seems like a whole lot of you have this problem and ford is really refusing to fix the root cause of it.

Yup, happened to mine also. I fixed it today. Looks like we need a permanent fix for this from our buddies at Ford.

kr seat problems

I've had these come apart once a week. I do put down the
back seats often, that may be what's doing it. I talked with the
dealership yesterday and they want to take it to an upholstery shop and have the black pieces sewn together. I don't think so! I'm afraid this will damage the leather if it doesn't have room to stretch which is probably why they're plastic. Has anyone talked with Ford regarding this problem. Everyone says the 2002 models don't seem to have this problem. I'm just over it. Any help?

Mine came undone again today. I think it's the stress of the leather when you sit down on it. It tightens in the rear and ultimately comes unlatched. I think I'm going to march over to the dealership this weekend a toss a hissy fit.
