Question Deals

Well, since I missed joining EAA I can't get X-plan pricing. What type of prices are you all getting on KR's? I can't even find any in my area which leads me to believe that the dealers are not gonna let 'em go for invoice. I just left messages with two dealers in the Houston area, Central Ford and Tommie Vaughn. Guess I'll see what they say tomorrow. I hate to get rid of a 2 1/2 truck, but its had its engine replaced and the rebates are pretty high right now. Guess I'm just a truck nut...

Hey Sapo,

Any dealer will sell at invoice price, you just gotta know when to hold'em and when to fold'em.

I got my left over '01 KR Screw for under invoice, way under. However, I had to be shrewd and bargain a lot and actually, I wrote the dealership an email with my offer and they wrote me back and said okay. Of course, I had already gotten an offer on my trade so there was no changing that amount either.

X plan is not all that much different to the deal you can negotiate yourself. The key is to know the invoice price that the dealer paid, know how long the dealer has had the inventory on their books and to keep your trade a separate deal, even if you do it all at once, make sure the trade value is never below wholesale value.

You should be able to easily buy your KR Screw at invoice price, hell, even at invoice the dealer is still making over $1000 in dealer holdback and other offers from Ford that none of us know for sure. Don't forget about zero percent financing, don't let them try and buy down the rate to zero and then sell the truck at higher than invoice. Insist on invoice price and zero percent or as low an interest rate as Ford will allow for the deal.

Good luck.

Thanks, Daveman. It looks like the trade-in is gonna be my issue. I went to a local dealer today and they told me $14500. I assume they were low-balling me since I told them I was looking for $17k. Guess they're all gonna play games so I should have said I wanted $19k from the get-go.

I have a quote from a dealer in texas that's close to invoice but I hate to drive all they way over there and then not get what I want for my trade.
