King Ranch Leather care
King Ranch Leather care
ive read alot of information on cleaning, but most threads just tell you to use a certain product and didn't really find a detailed cleaning thread.
my rear seats are in good condition, my fronts/console/steering wheel not so much. their not terrible but their terribly dry.
from what i have read so far:
1) use a warn damp cloth and clean, by doing this it gets the leather clean
2) let dry
3) use conditioner
my arm rest, have black all over them, as well as where you right leg rest on the drivers seat. its like cracks in the leather then black sitting on top. the seat is just a tiny amount, but both armrest aren't good.
whats my best way of getting everything looking as good as new as i can get it?

What you have referred to is called the "Spa Method" of cleaning. That is pretty much the only way to "Clean" the leather. Using hot water and a white towel, you open the pores of the leather and lift the dirt out. It may take a few times of doing it, with new, clean hot water to get satisfactory results. When it's finally clean to your liking, then condition with KR or Leather CPR or whatever you choose.
Welcome, and good luck. It can get tedious, but it's worth it!

did it a couple times today, the steering wheel is no longer black, and actually shows the correct color now, i think one more cleansing and it will be good and ready for condition.
my driver seat was alot drier than i thought, it just soaked up the water like nothing. my console lid didn't really go as well, it didn't seem to do what the seats and steering wheel were doing, so im not sure how it will turn out, hoping in the morning it looks better.
im still confused on what to do with the armrest, for some reason they didn't clean where it was black hard spots, as well as where my legs are on the drivers seat. any suggestions to get rid of these? or will ALOT of warm water eventually get rid of this?

Chances are that the stains on the console and seat are from human sweat, and has literally soaked into the leather. I would continue wtih the spa treatment until you are satisfied with the results. It's possible that it has "Stained" the leather. My steering wheel is like that on top. I'm sure the previous owner drove with one hand, plus he was a rancher/farmer, and I"m sure his hands were fairly dirty/greasy most of the time.
after looking at it this morning, some of it had come off, its a little rough in that area, but the steering wheel and arm rest are still a little damp since its in the 50s and 60s now. probly give it another day and do it again and see where it gets me.
my steering wheel was nearly black all the way around it, the side of the steering wheel actually matches my seat colors now so i have hope. there was still alot of dirt coming off onto the rag when i stopped yesterday.

so having trouble keeping my front seats "moist" they seem to dry out within a day or two?
is leather cpr the next best option?
also did the rear seat swap last friday with a guy to give me captains in the rear. is there any interest in a write up?

There have been other threads relating to swapping bench to buckets and vice versa. If I remember right, one person did it, but had to drill new holes, add brakets or something...it was NOT just a bolt in swap. You might be able to find more info by searching?

I believe that this is exactly correct... It's not a 'plug and play' swap, unfortunately.
i DID the swap. it IS a plug and play set up. i drive an f250, not an f150
the bench has 3 rear studs that the seats bolt to (2 passenger, 1 driver side)
the inner passenger side stud you switch over to truck with captains.
the front hole is there.
the biggest issue is those 2 holes are not tapped.
other than that it is a DIRECT bolt on.

so i give leather CPR a thumbs down.
the rear seats it did fine, theyre in better shape than the fronts.
the fronts i am pissed out. they fawked up the seats. at first i figured it was just because the seats were wet they were so dark, well now my seats have a blackish tint to them now that theyre dried out. been using warm water to clean the seats and hopefully brighten them back up. i just dont have a clue why they turned black. i tested it on my console first since its in much better condition and darkened the brown color just enough to make them look "healthy".
so if your front seats are in bad shape, dried out to hell, id recommend sticking with warm water and king ranch conditioner.
