As posted your question is rather blunt.

You will stand a much better chance of useful responses if you provide a bit more information......for example why are you asking ?

Ok, thanks. I am just looking to see how the new leather is wearing. I am really torn as I love the look but have just seen some trashed interiors in my travels. I know this is partly because some folks just simply don't take care of their leather, but aniline leather really worries me.

Kind of to this point...

Did anyone notice that the KR Saddle Shop makes no mention of Castano any more? Even the website only has a few things in Castano -- and they're on sale.

I'm afraid we have been consigned to history, Brad !!

Nice while it lasted and I'm proud to have been part of the Castano era.

PS Just conditioned my seats having returned from 6 weeks in Canada and they look as good as ever.

I have taken to doing two treatments at once. A quick go over with small amount of KR conditioner on a shop towel., immediately followed by the same again. Didn't 'rub' it over after and it looks fine and took all of 20 minutes.

Well as to the wear of the new leather. I find that it is wearing well. I have had my '09 King Ranch since Feb and no problems with the leather whatsoever. I had the aniline leather in my '06. I really had no problems with it either.

I know this won't go down well with some but if I now I had a pick between the two I would pick the new leather.

Sorry but that what I have to say.

Thumbs up

I have to agree with KingRanch101...I think the new Chaparral leather is more versatile than the old Castano leather, and a little thicker. It probably has to be for all the little holes for the heating and cooling. I absolutely love the cooled seats...but then again, I love everything about this '09 KR.

Cohiba007, take a look at my album, you can see the seats.

Also, the extra 6" in wheelbase this year seems to all be in the backseat. We were out with another couple last weekend, and we guys over-imbibed on adult beverages, and sat in the back seat on the way home. My wife always says that's the only time she gets to drive my truck...so she never minds me drinking. Anyway, I'm 6' 3" and I could cross my legs in the back seat...I couldn't believe it. I've never seen that much leg room in any vehicle.

Cohiba...here's my take on the '09 KR leather.

A patch of leather on the side of the driver's seat is showing wear without reason. The leather is starting to flake. I brought it in for warranty work and was denied by Ford. I'm contesting Ford's claim. FYI, this is near the baseball stitching on the side of the seat. The rest of the leather in the truck looks like new. I have only 4200 miles on the truck and it's a garage queen.
