Based on the input of the board, I tinted my front two windows to match the back windows. They are darker than the state law allows but they sure do look good.

Any advice for this newbie ?

Advice? Yes. Do it!!!!!! That was like one of the first things I did when I bought my truck. Not only does it compliment the truck it's beneficial in keeping the heat down inside. I would leave right now and go get it done!

Definately tint the fronts to match the back, makes more of a difference looks wise than you would think. Plus it has really helped out my A/C so far this summer.

Folks,

Yes, I am loving the looks and cooler interior of my new tinted front windows. I appreciate everyone's encouragement to go for it !
Hopefully the po po won't throw me in the slammer for my illegal tinted windows.

B the worst I have ever heard happening was them making you scrape the tint off on the spot. Now this has never happened to me, but I have heard people say it is true. I have had them stick that little box on my window to check how dark it was. Lucky for me I was legal. I have only had the State Troopers check. Never had a local cop do it. I am sure you will be fine unless you drive around like a nut all the time. I see cars everyday that I know are not legal.

It was one of the first things I did to mine. I had them done dark-as-legal and although the fronts are a little lighter than the rears, its not really a big difference. Whether you go darker than legal or not, I'd definately recommend having it done.

That is a big yes in doing the tint, now what % is totally up to you. I went 5% all around and had to rip the fronts off at inspection because it was darker than the 35% that tx allows. I want the 5% back but i may just put legal so i dont have to worry about it.

bsteele - looks like you did a great job tinting the front to match the back. I assume that you used 18%-20% tint; any other particulars?

Also, here's something funny - if the back doors & window come stock at 18%-20% tint, aren't I already illegal in VA?

Smcconaghie,

I did the fronts in LLumar and matched the back windows at 20%. The legal limit in GA is :

Front Side Windows Must allow more than 32% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 32% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 32% of light in.

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN GEORGIA?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.

Front Side Windows Must not be more than 20% reflective.
Back Side Windows Must not be more than 20% reflective.

So in that case, aren't I already over the limit on my back windows BEFORE I tinted the fronts ?

I'm down in Virginia Beach and I've been tinting the front windows on all my cars and trucks since I've been living here (2001). I've been pulled over plenty of times and not once has a police officer mentioned anything about my windows being too dark. Also, I have never had a problem passing a state safety inspection. I typically go 15% to match the rear windows.

Yeah, I also made it one of my very first modifications...

My fronts are at 25% (or so). I'm very pleased with the look and performance.
