Got rid of the KR running boards...Craigslist Rules!

Shortly after I purchased my 07 KR, I found this site. Someone had posted pics of their Copper KRscrew with the Running Boards removed. They had been replaced by the OEM oval chrome nerf bars....and I had to have them, but was leary of the wife cutting my throat whilst I slept. Six months later, I finally find the OEM chrome nerfs on Craigslist. They were dirty, around six months old, and only $150. Ain't takeoffs wonderful!

Thanks for Posting pics

I would post pics of my truck, but I have a paint complex that I may have picked up from RollingRock at a meet.

Thanks! It really did take me six months. I would look every 3-4 days. Ebay was the worst. Selling the nerfs...without brackets! Goodluck finding yours.

Awesome man, im going to be taking mine off and replacing them with some N-Fab stebs soon. I cant stand the stock boards with them staying dirty.

I just sold my running boards for $125. They guy had to drive a ways to get them, so I knocked off 25 bucks. So, did the swap and only paid 25 bucks for my new OEM nerfs.

The guy who bought them pulled up in a Lincoln truck. I commented how beautiful his truck was...and he says it was not a lincoln. I said really? He changed the badges, aftermarket 22's with the Lincoln logo, and his headrests were embroidered with the logo also. It was a nice truck. The only thing that I did not like was the stick on chrome handles and covers. Anywho, I am a happy camper.

The 2003 KR (mind you, this is the late-model) actually came with chrome side steps rather than the molded side boards. Additionally, the step plastic that was on the tubes for the 03' were also arizona beige to match the rest of the plastic accents (bed rails, etc).

They were very sharp, IMO... the color-matched plastic step pieces were really a nice touch.

That would be nice, Ford chrome OEM nerfs with Tan accents instead of the black. Anyone know where I could get tan inserts? Thanks RP, now ya got me wanting to change more...

I actually believe that there were a few that looked into simply buying the step inserts in beige but were ultimately unable to get them individually -- other than buying the entire bar assembly.

I'm sure the bars are still available through FoMoCo as they were original equipment but, you gotta pay to play! Just how bad do you want beige steps?

Can't say that I blame you. A can of Krylon costs less than $5. If I want beige bad enough, I' can figure it out for considerably less than $500.

I removed my steps this weekend, it looks much better IMO, visually adds about 3 inches to the truck, even if its the same. Side steps are the first thing to go when I buy a truck.

I wanted to go for the clean look as you did...but I have a wife and daughter. Now that I have this new truck with four doors, we take my truck. When I had the old truck, we took hers. One thing that I really do like, is that with the Castano leather, the nerf bars help me to sit in the seat without rubbing and sliding over the leather. On my last truck with leather, the seats were worn out with stepping in and out and sliding. Pretty sure the nerf bars will help. I do agree, without them, the truck looks better and is cleaner.

I hear ya, I am actually thinking of adding some ranch hand individual steps to each door, I'm just not a fan of the full cab running boards.
