anyone have nerf bars on a copper king ranch f150? I'm tryin to decide if I should get them or keep the runnin boards. I seen a black kr in town, and the bars look nice. Im sure it would look good, its just I work on a gravel road with the nerf bars would it get a lot more rock chips? also whats a good nerf bar?

thanks

I have the stock plastic runnin' boards. They are ugly. I did not think chrome would look good, until I saw a copper kr in OK the other day. Looks great with chrome nerf boards. I believe that they were Ford OEM. Aftermarket may look better, but factory chrome nerfs looked pretty sharp.

I so far have left the factory platform boards on mine because they are color keyed to the truck, and have thought about this as well.

Even the factory 5" tubular steps that Ford has as an option don't particularly do it for me - chrome is easy to go overboard with on this color, in my opinion.

Go buy the chrome nerf bars at Ford...put one on, and dont tighten. If you think it looks like crap, take it back. If you dig it, tighten the bolts and enjoy.

I would drive through a dealership or two. There is one about a mile from my house and they frequently stock 3 or more copper KRs. Some have nerf bars, some have the running boards.

I prefer the running boards with the copper, but it's all personal opinion. Get what you like!

You can also try this site, click on the Accessorizer. It doesn't have the option for our two tone paint, but you can get a fair idea...

If I am not mistakin' nerf bars are what would take the place of your running boards, yes? If so check out my pics in the gallery. The previous owner had them installed and painted the same color as the trim, Pueblo Gold I believe. He also put on a painted bull bar.

Yes, you will get chips, unless you put on a clear plastic sheet that'll protect them. (Don't know what it's called, but you can find it)

The products are from Westin.

Hope it helps.

I didn't like the molded running boards so I replaced them with the Ford 5-inch nerf steps. I think it ties in with the chrome grille surround and new chrome wheels and looks much better IMHO.

No question the tubes look better. The running boards look old even when brand new.

BTW - Guess you're not selling it, huh?

I put black nerf bars on white with other black accents. I did not like the factory running boards.
