If you thought our interior was hard to maintain, imagine those all white seats.

The bottom line is that the major manufacturers of vehicles out there are realizing the importance of 'botique' vehicles within every segment of the market.

The truck doesn't look like my cup of tea (at all) but, to each their own. Choices make the world go round'.

Choices are good.

I would drive that truck if someone gave it to me. But if I'm buying with my own money, stickin' with Ford.

What a total knock off of a KR

I sure hope this doesn't offend anyone but I would rather walk than have that truck. The Dodge has terrible interiors. Great engine with the Cummings but again that truck is dawg.

Sorry.

Ford for me, next GMC, then walk, then maybe a Dodge.

Holy 1973 Cadillac Eldorado interior! I'd be scared to sit in that truck. You might stain the leather just from farting.

With that comment, I just stained my office chair! To each his own, but I think Resistol is about as stupid of a name as one could find... for a truck trim level. Yes, it's a well-known company name calling out quality hats for eons, but does it say tough truck. It's a clothing item. Pick Hanes, Levi's, or Victoria's Secret. It just says nothing about toughness and outdoors and work. Heck, Stetson still would have been a better choice. I know they probably couldn't get them to come to the table. I think they'd have better luck with a brown truck sporting Exlax badges. How about the Astroglide Edition with real shiny purple paint, shiny black leather seats with purple cording, racing slicks, and Barry White saying "Hello Baby" when you open the door. What's next?

For what my opinion is worth, it's still ugly. While those seats may not fade out like the King Ranch's, they're just not my thing.

Well the title scared me for a minute, but my next truck will still be a Ford

I agree...

These "boutique" or "specialized" lines are gaining a lot of attention...and we can all thank Ford for it. Although there were others out there doing limited edition stuff, it wasn't until Ford did the Harley-Davidson and King Ranch models on a mass scale and all the success those brought did the other guys decide to jump on the bandwagon. Looks like Dodge is going to be knock-off #1.

Here in the Atlanta area, I see more and more King Ranch 150s and 250s these days...much more than when I bought my first KR in 2002. They have gained a ton of popularity in this market and when I traded in the 02 for an 07 there were 9 KRs on the lot...when we bought the 02 there weren't even 9 in the Atlanta market when they did a dealer search! I would be curious to know what the sales mix looks like for the KR models in comparision to Lariats, etc.

I totally agree that the "Resistol" is a knock-off of Ford and that interior is actually laughable. It reminds me of the old Cadillacs with the white leather seats! Maybe the seat material is like the Resistol hat...! Who knows, but it tells us all that truck owners for sure want something unique and you can bet Dodge will sell these things. We're all pretty doggone loyal to our brands and there are a lot of "Dodge Faithfuls" in my neck of the woods.

As to the comment about it being the ugliest truck, I disagree...I think that honor goes to the Toyota Tundra. Wow, that truck is horrendously confusing looking. I am all about American trucks (well...pretty much American everything) and as long as more people are in Fords, Chevy/GMCs and Dodges that means less are in Toytas and Nissans (another ugly truck)!

A very sensible post.....
You are quite right about brand loyalty too.

Even though sometimes it blinds us to the benefits of other brands, be it trucks, or Hi Fi !!

I felt almost disloyal when I traded my F150 for an Expedition.....the only consolation was that it was a King Ranch variant.

I'm sure for those loyal to Dodge the Resistol will be a draw.
Several comments condemn it for the unsuitability of the seating material/color.

But just look at the debates we've had here over the care of our leather !
There are many who will have dismissed that because of its unsuitability.

I wouldn't want one but at least I'd like the chance to look at the resistol special, and if I hadn't ever been introduced to the KR who knows ?!!

Well, styling is a subjective thing so everyone definitely expresses their own opinions based on personal taste, but I would hardly call Dodges junk. I owned all of the Big 3 brands and each have their strengths and weaknesses (yes, including Ford). I owned a couple of Dodges that were better than the current comparable Ford or Chevy offerings at the time, and Chevys that were better than the comparable Dodge or Ford, and Fords that were better than any of the others (including present day). I am a proud owner of a Ford KR now, but that may change with the right offering from any of the Big 3. But that particular Dodge package is not going to make me give up my KR.
