Tire Pressure Monitoring and another dumb questions

There's a light on the dashboard.....there's a section in the owners manual...and there are articles on non-Ford websites indicating that ALL 2007 ford f-150s come with a tire pressure monitoring system.
My window sticker doesn't say squat about it.

So I figured before I did something really dumb like letting the air out of a tire to see if the idiot light came on I'd ask....is the monitoring system really there? I took delivery of the truck in March.

Second dumb question....I see a lot of posts indicating aftermarket exhausts...intakes...leveling kits etc.... since I can't afford a lamborghini, my KR is my mid-life crisis and I'd love to add some more bells and whistles but I'm wondering....don't those additions...to intake...exhaust and suspension void the warranty?

Thanks!

I've heard there was a federal regulation that required a tire pressure monitoring system in 2007, but I'm not sure exactly how it applies. (all vehicles produced in 2007 or 2007 model years, whatever..)

That is exactly correct.

It's now a federal law that new vehicles come equipped with such a system. My wife's 2004 Explorer has one and it's a nuisance during the winter (ie: the tires are dead on with pressure yet it reports low and the sensor light stays illuminated until the vehicle comes to a warm operating temperature. At that point, the light extinguishes.).

It's a good thing to have, I suppose.

In general, no. Dealers and munfacturers are required to honor warranty claims on aftermarket equipped vehicles according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act. The act states that the warranty shall not be voided and claims honored unless the dealer and/or manufacturer can prove the problem in question was caused by the non-standard equipment.
