Angry The King is dead!!

So I get my new 07 150 KR today, get it home, loving every minute of the new leather smell, park in garage and eat dinner. Go back out to soak up the new car smell and load my CD's in the changer and...THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS DEAD!!! No radio, gauges, power group, NOTHING! So check fuses, they aren't blown. Disconnect battery, nada. I'm thinking What the??? Thank goodness the dealer is open tomorrow, cuz you can bet I will be there first thing in the AM wanting answers!!! BTW, the truck only has 39 miles on it! What's that about?!

No prob with battery, the engines turns over and starts with no hesitation. The weird thing is that some of the interior stuff does work...headlights, wipers, the clock, power mirrors/locks. Drives too, I was able to pull it out of the garage.

Sounds like you are doing the best thing by bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow. Chances are likely they'll ask you to bring it back on Monday for servicing.

Congrats on the new truck.....I would be pissed too, that's a lot of money to have problems as soon as you get home.

You got the koolest color right?.....Dark Copper

Yes the King was dead! I took it to the dealer first thing this AM, they ripped the dash out and there was a major short in the instrument cluster. So they had to order a new one. They were going to take one out of a Lariat they had on the lot but since as you guys know, the KR logo is in the cluster, so they are overnighting the new cluster to be put in on Monday. Gunny, yes I did get the coolest color around...Dark Copper!

Well, my KR leaked water into the interior the day I brought it home. Took months to finally resolve, in fact over a year if memory serves. I was bummed. At the end of the day the KR is a very cool package and I've never owned or driven a truck I like better, but it's still a mass-produced product and it still falls to the owner to do much of the QC testing on behalf of Ford...

Well, I am glad it didn't take a year to resolve, I did get the King back today. Turns out the overhead light shorted out the whole thing! Go figure. The dealer fixed it in a timely fashion and even delivered it to my office so I wouldn't have to pick it up! So the King is alive again, long live the King!

Sounds like they are really interested in your repeat business. Good for them and good for you...
