Leather steering wheel mod

I have been very disapointed in the leather on my steering wheel the castano leather is heck to keep looking good and scuffs way too easy so I decided to cover it let me know what ya'll think .... It took me about a hour to lace it on

Looks factory!

I hate how the factory leather gets darker on the wheel where I hold on with my hand. I find if I take my hand and rub the steering wheel really hard the dark parts of the wheel turn back to normal.

Very nice. Assuming it holds up better than the KR stuff (no doubt), then you might have a market for that one too...

Yep, I like it. But I wonder what the leather will do underneath the new wrap? Will it dry up and discolor? This isn't something you'd be able to take on and off to clean and condition the "real" leather.

Just wondering. Plus with the wap, you'd get a "fatter" wheel at the top and bottom.....if that makes sense.

Interesting that you posted this, Ed....

I was just eyeballing my wheel a day or two ago and considering asking for a factory replacement.

The interior is still nearly pristine... the top of my wheel, however, has faded incredibly bad and looks bad at best. Naturally, I've cleaned and conditioned it frequently - yes, even tried the KR Saddle Shop chem-c0cktail. I just think I got a lower quality strip of cow toosh in that individual spot. I have no problems elsewhere on the wheel...

I was wondering if Ranch-It-Out has an online store or ebay store for his products. I like the work that you have done.

Yep, you can find some of Ed's stuff on eBay. Do a search for "King Ranch" and you'll find what he has up for sale at that particular time. If a certain item isn't listed, then shoot him and email and he'll answer you pretty darn quick. His stuff is great. I have some in my KR, as many people here do.

Good luck.

This quote cracked me up!!! Only another KR owner would know about some of the funny BULLS&*%T we do like rubbing REALLY hard on scuffs to make them blend in. The steering wheel has been my biggest "issue" on a daily basis. Oh well.....even so I wouldn't drive another truck on the road!

I was woundering the same thing but with the way my factory leather was starting to look, it was replace the whole wheel or cover it so I realy don't care how the leather under my leather looks. I used a leather that dont scuff easy and don't absorb oil from your hands as bad .. It feels very nice but just the litttle differance in size feels a little weird at first but I think I will keep it on . After all the lacing I don't think I will remove it to clean the leather under it LoL. I would learn a few new cuss words doing that

new King Ranch owner here and I have to say that's pretty sweet. I pretty much had to revive the leather in the front seats with leather cpr and tried lexol and such which turned out good on the seats but didn't do chit to the steering wheelcause it's too far gone on top. I was wondering what to do about it but that looks like a good idea.

To get rid of the bulge, why didn't you just remove the original leather underneath since you don't care about it anymore? That's what I would do cause mine is beyond fixing.

And where can I get those leather pieces?

Hey Ed, would that fit a 2003 f150? Just curious if the size of the wheel is the same as the f250/f350, I saw your auction for it and it didn't list the f150. Thanks
