How many of you have purchased a new King Ranch that had scratches in the paint?
How many of you that have purchased a new Ford F-150 King Ranch 2004-2007 had scratches in your paint when it was placed on the sold line at your dealership?
My dealer claims they cannot polish out the scratches and I have to live with it.
Thank you

Heh.
First of all, it has nothing to do with being a King Ranch. Depending on the scratches, they could have come from the factory, the transport process, or most likely- the dealer lot. If they can not get them out then I suggest negotiating either a discount, or have them pay for a professional to fix it.

that's a bunch of bulls1t!
tell him to either have the dealership's body shop fix it (it really won't cost THEM anything, just the expense of the paint) or, give you an appropriate discount to compensate for the damage. mention that the scratches were not there when you agreed to buy it, whether or not it's true, is irrelevant. Also, ask HIM if he would "live" with scratches in his brand new truck... He just doesn't want to lose part of his commission, as the dock in price will first come out of his paycheck... If he won't oblige, first go to the general manager, and bitch until they fix it. If that doesn't work, go to another ford dealership, and find the same exact truck you want. Since it's brand new, it should NOT already be damaged, and it should NOT be difficult to find another same, exact truck. Trust me, I work in the retail business, and if you bitch loud enough to the right manager, 9/10 times, they will fix the problem, if they truly put customer service up as a top priority. (I hate to make assumptions, but you don't seem like a very adamant person. Just muster up the ***** and be as obnoxious as a person as you possibly can. Again, do NOT take that personally, I myself am not adamant enough at times...) If they don't oblige, NEVER give them your business again, and make sure THEY know that...
Sorry 'bout the ranting, but that is what I would do. I went through some similar **** when I got my truck, but I'm not going to get into that story, and I know how it can be at times dealing with dealerships.

Funny you mention this TODAY.. I took delivery of my KR about 2 weeks ago now. Upon the truck pulling off the transport, I found scratches in my mirror (painted portion and black plastic portion). The impact was hard enough to whatever it hit that it stripped the gear in the power fold mirror. That was already replaced by the dealer, and it turned out great.
The same day the truck came in I observed spider web looking scratches in the passenger side rear door above the handle. After it was washed and I took delivery with a "promise to fix all body blemishes" I found that there was severe buffing haze marks in both passenger doors. Appartently the factory buffed on the doors after they must have found something wrong. I also found a chip and a crack in the paint on the same door. I took delivery and brought the truck back this week for the fix up.. A body guy and I then went over the truck to point out what was wrong.. That guy spotted virtually everything I knew of in seconds..
Those guys definitlely have an eye for that. Well, I asked them to do what they can WITHOUT painting the doors. He pretty much agreed that the buffing marks were not anything to worry about, and they can only touch up the chip and try to wet sand / touch up the door edge cracked paint.
I got the truck back and it looks great, but when inspecting it I found an area in the door that is much darker than the rest. When they starting buffing, they removed a top layer of clear coat that revealed what the factory had been trying to fix or COVER UP. Damn, why can't anything go smooth for me.. I really don't want my new truck painted, but it looks horrible now only in the direct sunlight..
They told me that basically Ford has a 12 month / 12k body / paint claim policy.. It has to be something fixed that came from the factory. I guess I will probably wait about a month, then have the doors repainted. I just want to drive the KR for awhile before they do that. The paint guy seems to think that they can do a better paint job than factory anyways and make it match almost perfect.
Whatever you see, make sure you point it out to your salesman and make sure its in writing so its documented.

My KR had scratches in the AZ beige paint around the fender flare. It was a total non-issue -- I pointed it out and asked when they'd fix it. They scheduled a trip to their favorite body shop. Done and done.
My dad bought a Lariat a few months later in a different city and it also had paint damage. Dealer quickly scheduled repair at a collision center and had it fixed.
Never heard of a dealer with damaged inventory who gave the TS approach.
Good luck.
