Painted Door Handles

Went to a local auto body shop today to inquire about getting my side mirrors and door handles paint to match. The guy said it's not possible because of the "textured" surface. I see a number of guys here that have their's painted!! What gives?!

prep them yourself, and then have him paint them

You will save his time and labor cost that way. Pull them off the truck, follow some instructions on how to sand them down, then have him spray a paint adhesive spray, then 3 coats of paint then 2 or 3 clears

EDIT why does your truck have texas tag, but says your in cali in your profile? what gives?

The 'prep' that Pat speaks of consists of sanding the texture off and making it flat.

Also, be aware, while Ford doesn't yet make a 'paint to match' full mirror, they *DO* make paint to match handles that are pre-sanded and ready to spray.

I mean taking all that crap apart and off the truck. I heard those door handles were a b i t c h. And I would have to find the time. I can't be without transportation for no more than 1 day.
