I Damaged My KR Seats PLEASE HELP
This weekend I was installing my new Ranchitout leather package and I was feeling great about that. Then I got in a cleaning mode and I pulled out some Lexol cleaner and conditioner for my seats. I followed the directions to a the letter and something happened......my passenger seat is all jacked up now.....it has streaks in it and splotches. Can this be fixxed ??? I am steaming mad.....I cannot believe this happened. I started reading the forums and I see where some people swear by the Lexol and some say dont use it under any circumstances. Please tell me what I can do to repair my seats. I just bought some KR conditioner off of Ebay but it hasnt gotten here also I ordered some Zymol as well. Please help me out if you can.....I just dont know what the hell to do. Im scared to use anything else but I know something has to be done.
I am including the photos below and any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ,

This is the seat that was damaged.....note the streaks and splotches. The chair back of this seat was not damaged at all by the cleaner....so I dont know why this area got so messed up.

This is the console and it got messed up too.

The one thing I don't like about the King ranch leather it has very little protective finish in the tanning process so once you get a bad scuff or wear area like the lower left back and bottom of most driver seats . This is why I have the bottom of my seats covered with a piece of hide and I never set anything on my center console lid and try very hard not to let it get scuffed because once you condition if it will look worse in most cases and the oil from elbows and hands will make it darker like the top of most steering wheels.
Thanks Ed.....I sure hope your right man.....Im about to go nuts over here. Im headed outside now to use the damp shirt and wipe it down.
The leather items I purchased from you are the kingpin man....that brought a whole new dimension to my truck interior.....cant wait to get the sunroof insert, keychain cover, and glove box overlay.
Thanks again and I will take photos of my seats once I put the once over on them so you guys can see if it is working out.
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm curious....what year is this truck and is this the first time any leather product has been used on the seats ? I've wondered if " we" use a protective cream before we expose the seats to life, that they'll resist stains better ? I do know that many products will actually expose imperfections and use-marks. I'm sorry that I don't have the magic answer. I have an '05 KR that we use only Olive Oil on....as we do on our saddles....but doubt it's what average auto owners would like. We feel it softens the leather and affords some protection from moisture...but it also darkens the leather and brings out the more " used " appearance. I also have an '07 KR that I've only used the leather cream on...so they look showroom perfect for now. I doubt it's possible to keep it that way forever ...tho I read one place how someone had the seats " stripped " and they appeared brand new ? As far as covering them....that is certainly smart...but my feeling is , I buy a truck for my pleasure....I want to sit on and enjoy the leather rather than save it for the next guy .
What is the Ranch-it-out package.....the leather wrap on the stick shift ?

It is an 05 150 KR......I sure hope the products that I purchased will bring them back to life because I absolutely love these seats but the "new" look does not last long. If you read the literature that comes with the seats though, it says that the worn look is when these seats are at their best so it may be futile for us to try to keep them looking new as the manufdacturer seems to make them for the worn out look. I do know they are not supposed to look like they look now though.
The "Ranchitout" package is a leather package that you can get from a guy on this forum that absolutely makes your truck go to another level. You can get all kinds of dress ups if you want to spend the cash. I got the shifter cover, grab handle covers, arm rest covers, sunroof insert, keyless entry cover, and glove box handle overlay. The leather looks like just like the Castano and it is made really well. Ed does a fantastic job. I dont know if it is against the rules to post the link here but he can be found on ebay under the name ranchitout_ed .
Any other suggestions on my seats to restore them to good again ????

Surf on down to the KR Forum. There's a sticky at the top with more info than you ever thought possible about keeping the KR leather clean.
I've never tried Lexol, so I can't comment on it. I typically use Griot's Leather Conditioner, and hang on to a bottle of the Zymol for when i run out of the Griot's. I think the Zymol Conditioner does a nice job, but it wont clean the leather. Some people use baby shampoo, damp towels, and other things....

The heat has now really dried that one seat and console out.....I hope the damp towel will take the streaks out and then I hope the zymol will condition the seat cause it is in bad shape....it now looks totally different than the drivers side seat. I am going to scour the KR forum and see what I can find.....
Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have used the Zymol lether cleaner and it doesn't do a bad job. You're going to want to keep treating the leather as long as you have the truck, so yes, you do want to get a conditioner. Check out the info in the KR Forum and pick up a conditioner that you think will work.
I see what the problem is....the seat and console is completely dried out.....the Lexol took the light shiny coat off of the seat and console and it is just bone dry so will the Zymol or KR conditioner recondition this thing to make it soft and supple again ??? If not, I dont think the seat will ever be right.
If it is not right , I think I am going to write Lexol through my attorneys office and see if possibly I can get them to replace the seat and console. This is basically a brand new vehicle (2005 bought in jan. of 2006) that I used their product on and it really damaged the seat. Course , they protect themselves by saying that you should test in an inconspicuous area first. I wouldnt actually sue them anyway as I dont believe in that kind of thing but hopefully a strongly worded letter through my attorneys office will maybe get them to at least split the cost......course this may be all for nothing if the Zymol works its magic.
Any thoughts ????????????

I use the Zymol cleaner and conditioner and have had no problems with my medium Gray leather. I did get glass cleaner on the seat once and it turned the leather much lighter where the drops of cleaner hit. The Zymol had no effect on it so I got some SEM vinyl paint and hit it with a few light coats and you can not tell there was ever a problem. NAPA did not have my exact color match for my interior code in stock so I eyeballed and it was near perfect.
You have a newer truck so I would hold that as a last resort if all other remedies fail.
Anytime you are doubtful of new product try the product on an inconspicuous spot first. (I know hindsight is 20/20 and you should not have expected the result you got from the Lexol)
Don't worry too much the odds are you will be able to get it right again!

Hey buddy...I have an 05 KR myself...I ONLY use the KR leather conditioner from www.krsaddleshop.com Thats what I was reccommended, and it does a good job. If you can't get the stains out at all, there is a company somewhere...I think in Florida that can restain your KR leather....they make it look brand new for about 300 bucks...if worse comes to worse!
