When turning from a stop I can break the back tires loose fairly easy. If the tires are wet I barely press the gas and both tires break. Is that because of the positraction rear end? I have never driven a truck that was so easy to get sideways in.

Locking up the brakes, holding the throttle down until I hit about 2000RPM, release the brakes, and I leave 4 black streaks about 10' long (DRW) on dry pavement.

First time I took on Cottonwood Pass it started to snow pretty darned good (and it rained the night before). The ascent coming from the west headed east is all unpaved. I was loaded with camping gear in the bed so it's not like I didn't have any weight. I was not at all impressed with how the old KR handled itself. I had to leave it in 4WD the entire drive (this is something I normally only do ery briefly when actually facing "4WD" territory -- lack of pavement and a little snow does not count as true 4WD territory in Colorado!!). Derned thing seemed to have a mind of its own in 2WD and was still a little scary in 4WD (turn steering wheel, set watch, sit back and wait, don't fret too much over the 2,000 ft drop rapidly approaching your windshield (or windscreen if you happen to be Lenny)...

Mine could never break the back tires loose. I tried power braking iot before I sold it and the thing did not budge... it was weird becasue the RPMS came up and then it just bogged down. But, I think I had the biggest hunk of crap that Ford let get out of the assembly plant. My KR was always a dog and that is why I sold it.

Thats strange. A 25% throttle I can spin both tires turning from a stop. Maybe has to do with the positraction rear end?

Positrac basically shifts power away from wheels that spin loose, so it certainly shouldn't be the cause of breaking free...

If ones a spinnin', and power is transfered to the other, with enough power it can also break free, then you have both a spinnin'. Getting the back end to break loose when turning a corner is impressive, but getting both wheels to break loose when going straight .... now that's where it gets impressive.

I can break them lose on some pavements going straight from a dead stop. It gets down right dangerous when taking a turn and its damp or wet outside.

It 'shields' you from the wind......it 'screens' you from the wind.

Just as long as it's there !!!!

This post just to prove I'm paying attention......I came back to the UK a week ago to a new house and the teething problems are incessant...boiler (Sorry, furnace!) packed up, Electrics went out, Desk Top PC wouldn't start, Lap Top blew up (Yes , really!), Utility room flooded, 4WD Mitsubishi wouldn't start, A very expensive Bang and Olufsen TV lost its tube (look them up if you haven't heard of them...very high end, very high priced and no bloody good !!),
And to cap it all my satellite box had to be replaced.
Never mind I went out and bought a huge LCD TV, and tomorrow get fitted with high def. satellite, so that might be the silver lining!

Thusly the forum has taken a back seat for a while.

Happy Christmas everyone !

(I suppose that's politically incorrect over there...should be Happy Holidays....but Hey Ho....Sod It ! (Old English curse)

Sounds like opportunity aplenty to go out and shop-shop-shop!! I don't watch much TV (too many cigars to be burned!) but my family basically went into meltdown when our living room set went out this year. After an intentionally imposed period of suffering, I bought a very nice HD LCD and must admit that it is IMPRESSIVE! Love to watch Discovery HD on that baby (NFL aint half bad either).

....Sod It ! (Old English curse)
I always did like that one...

Ive got no problem breaking loose when wet, both wheels which is crazy on a 3.55 open diff. Dry i can chirp one wheel from a stop with a flash punch. With powerbreaking i can spin all day when im launching my truck.
