Broken Mirror
Broken Mirror
In my stupidity, I have broken the glass housing and glass on my driver's side mirror. So I call some dealers (including the one i bought the truck from) and come to find out, I have to buy the entire assembly which runs about $350-$400 installed.
The big price issue according to one of the parts guys is the puddle lamp found exclusively on our KRs (05 & up). So I was wondering if you guys knew of a place I could get one of these mirrors (or the housing and glass specifically) for cheap. Just so you all know (& I am sure you all do), it is power folding, heated, with the puddle lamp. Any help you guys could give me would be great.

There are several online parts places that can probably do better than 'retail' from the stealership.
My first stop for this type of thing is Fast Parts Network (formerly Ford Parts Network).
Shoot Torrie an email at: torrie@fastpartsnetwork.com and let him know that you come from f150online and that I sent you. It'll still be expensive but, I think you'll like the price better than buying it from the parts counter.
...and thanks for this reminder... I'm definitely going to try to have my driver's mirror replaced under warranty as it's sqwaking BIG TIME when I extend or retract.

Shop different dealers in different areas. The thieves in Southeast Texas wanted $300 for overhead rail bins. I got two in Fort Worth as a package with inserts for $159. The parts guy showed me his price was about $100 so some of these crooks are doing triple price mark-ups.
Somebody driving a moving truck recently hit and broke mine, but only the glass, since the housing collapsed and survived. They don't even sell the glass separately! Gotta buy the whole thing. In fact, mine came from the factor missing a plastic piece on the bottom (the little access piece next to the lamp). When I asked about that shortly after taking delivery, they started to order the whole danged thing. Told them to forget it, wasn't worth the trouble. Fortunately, that was the one later hit.
