KR Meet @ Greet?
Wasn’t there a thread that talk about a KR meet @ greet at the King Ranch? I remember reading something like that but it seems that the thread has disappeared. Any input from anyone?

It was me proposing to organize such an event.
HOWEVER this is the third time I have offered to do this and there has never been enough response to justify the work involved.
The King Ranch owners are just TOO far and wide to make it feasible.
Even those long term committed members find it difficult and timing is especially hard.
I myself am only Stateside at certain times of the year though only being 2 hours drive from Kingsville does make it a lot easier for me when I am over there.
This last time I had only one serious response (Sarah, are you there?), and as we have met up previously I know she is serious and if necessary we could meet up privately.
I do speak from experience having organized major events with car clubs in Europe and the States.
Initial response is always enthusiastic but when it comes to the crunch the proportion of uptake is always a very small percentage of that first interest.
Having said all that the response to the Roll Call thread indicates a far wider spread of KR ownership than used to be the case and it may indeed be different now.....when we first started I think we had about 20 regular contributors here !
Meet
I'm interested...DFW area here. The KR is a 8-9 drive from here but I would be interested in something in North or central Texas.

Howdy King Ranchers!
I would be interested anywhere in Texas and maybe the states bordering Texas. I guess it is just the matter of getting something going. Many other King Rancher's who are far away it is understandable bout your situation what with the current gas prices and travel expense's and mileage put on that great truck of yours. But it doesn’t stop any of us or you from having a local Meet & Greets with an open invite to everyone else. A plus would be to post your Meet & Greet on this forum and afterwards a little write up of the Meet & Greet with pictures. With little or a lot of brain storming, something fun can happen. This is a great site and the King Ranch forum has been a lot of help to me and the care of my truck, you’ll have a great week! Dwain

Wait I have been so busy lately...Lenny are you back on our side of the pond again and didn't let me know so we could meet and have dinner again?
As far as the DFW area I am heading up that way the first weekend of August (to Frisco and Plano area)

Hi Sarah...
No we're not back yet......a little later this year as we have to go to The Isle Of Man in September for the 100th anniversary of Rolls undertaking the TT course (Famous to motorcyclists) in the original RR Ghost.
We will be back Mid October and will get in touch later !

Sorry about the misunderstanding.
Hmmmm do know why I have to explain? It was written in jest. It seem a little obvious to me.
Now my comment made in jest:

EEErrrrr, Yes......I DID understand, but the fact Sarah and I made a personal comment to each other having known each other since this forum started, hardly seemed to warrant any comment !
Whether it was in jest or not depends I suppose on ones point of view !
You will find that many threads on this forum do not stick rigidly to the point...in fact that it what makes the forum so interesting.
It is a pity though that some people like Mike are not around much anymore to help add a little spice to the threads.
If all we do all the time is talk about bull bars and tyre/ wheel combinations it all gets a little turgid.
Hey Lenticular, sorry for butting in and making a commit on your conversation with Sarah even when made in jest. I guess it could have been construed as being rude. I have to agree with you about the need of some levity in these threads. You and Sarah have a great day where ever you all may be in this great world! The tread is yours, have fun! Dwain

(Get it ??!)
My dry ironic sense of humour (Humor) doesn't always get across in the States, plus I can be a grumpy old sod at times !
Anyway no offence was taken and who knows we might get a meeting organised (Organized) one of these days !!
And before anyone thinks I'm mocking US English...quite the reverse...those who know me of old know that I fully accept that Americanisms often make way more sense than the English.
Many words taken across to the states by the Pilgrims et al are still being used in their correct form.
An example being 'color', whereas many people in the UK think that our spelling of 'Colour' is correct, in fact that is derived post Pilgrim times from the French 'Coleur'.Read Bill Brysons Excellent book ' Mother Tongue'.
Its a non academic treatise on the derivation of language.
The chapter on swear words is hilarious.
I'll try one here but no doubt it will get auto edited.....since in the past I've tried to use the common English phrase ' **** up ' and even that gets edited, though what's wrong with the word for male chicken beats me !! Anyway back to swear words.
In Victorian times many words that were in regular use are now considered really vulgar.
One that I find very descriptive of the situation was the name for a lane in London frequented by prostitutes.
It was called 'Grope**** Lane '
How about this for getting away from the thread !!
Edit......
Yes the software even manages to edit out half of a word, and if common sense didn't fill in the missing letters it was a 4 letter word beginning with C and a T at the end.
If you still don't get it we would like to introduce the visitors to the summer ball........
Welcoming Mr and Mrs Talia, and their daughter Jenny.
Let your software edit that one.
