"Ding, ding, ding"... driving me CRAZY!

After enduring what seems like and endless series of "ding dings" on my '02 King Ranch SC, I am near the end of my rope. This truck has THE most annoying warning "dings" for virtually EVERY possible reason; the seatbelts, keys in ignition, door is open, sun is shining, lol. Well maybe that last one is hyperbole, but honestly, does Ford want to drive me nuts?

I am again turning to the experts on this site, (who have never let me down yet!) to find a cure for my dinging truck. Is there any way to shut these annoying warnings off? I live in a small Northern town where NO ONE ever uses their seatbelt and I am getting in and out of my truck lots each day and must endure this endless dinging. Please, if you know of a way, ANY way, to turn these off or disable them, please let me in on the secret. Thanks to all who try to help, happy trucking!

Yes you can...it is in the owner's manual. At least it was in the 2001 one. It's an odd procedure. Like turn the key to on turn on the headlight buckle and unbuckle the belt 5 times turn the lights off and key off in 10 seconds then there is more fromt what I remember. I will take a look at my manual and see what I can find and post it.

Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature.

Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the
deactivation/activation programming procedure.

The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the
following procedure:

Before following the procedure, make sure that:
² The parking brake is set.
² The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral
position (manual transmission).
² The ignition switch is in the OFF position.
² All vehicle doors are closed.
² The driver’s safety belt is unbuckled.
² The parklamps/headlamps are in OFF position (If vehicle is equipped
with Autolamps, this will not affect the procedure).

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE.)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1–2
minutes.)

² Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated.

3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during BeltMinder
warning activation.
4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the parklamps/headlamps.
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled.
² After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.
6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off,
buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
² This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently enabled, or enable
BeltMinder if it is currently disabled.
7. Confirmation of disabling BeltMinder is provided by the safety belt
warning light flashing four times per second for three seconds.
8. Confirmation of enabling BeltMinder is provided by:
² The safety belt warning light flashing four times per second for three
seconds.
² Followed by three seconds with the safety belt warning light off.
² Once again, the safety belt warning light will flash four times per
second for three seconds.
9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is
complete.

Or if you don't want to do that

Just push in the red button like you are unbuckling the seatbelt.
No more dings until the next time you start up.
I do it out of habbit and never hear a ding.

This is what I do.

There is one other solution and I don't do this because I will forget and end up killing the battery but you can take the fuses that control the warnings out.

On my 02 If I push the seat belt button the beeping will only temporary stop. Mine will chime every two minutes or so.

I thought this was a "wild goose chase" or a joke on a noob when I first read it, but I guess it is a real procedure...too funny. The only thing Ford left out was "hold up your left leg and dance in a a counter-clockwise circle 3 times while the moon is full..." Mike

Wow... i never thought it would be as long a procedure as that! However, it worked! Thanks for taking the time to type that procedure out for me, I'm now Ding-Ding free for a while.

Not to be a party pooper, but

I have a simple solution: use your seatbelts.

When I was much younger and indestructible, I never used to wear my seatbelt. Then my aunt and cousin, who was the exact same age as I was, were both killed in a collision. My younger cousin was in the back seat, but ended up in the front seat and needed reconstructive surgery to rebuild his face. He had been a really funny, happy-go-lucky kid, but grew up into a rather odd person.

None of them were wearing seatbelts. My aunt might have died anyway, but both boys would have been ok - and the younger one would probably have been absolutely fine and uninjured, except maybe for some bruising - had they been belted.

My vehicle doesn't move until everyone's buckled.

Just my 2c.
