King Ranch leather?

Is there a place were you can purchase King Ranch leather hides? I am wanting to build a custom overhead console and wrap it in the leather.

Thanks

First, welcome to f150online and, more specifically, to the KR forum. We're glad to have you here.

Secondly, there was a member here who had found a source of leather that wasn't necessarily KR Castano but, it was almost a carbon copy. I feel really bad that I can't remember who it was because he/she sent me a tiny sample of the material (and I must say, it was almost a perfect match)... I have that swatch somewhere but, we've moved offices since I had it and goodness only knows what drawer it's in now...

You may try searching around here in the KR forum just a little... you might stumble on it. Keep the words Garden State Tannery in your search (they're who currently makes the KR hides for LEAR who makes the interior systems for FoMoCo.

Thanks for the link.

I would like enough to recover the drivers side bolster that takes all the wear from getting in and out of the truck. I can see where that area will wear much faster than any other part, in my truck.

Actually, a complete drivers side seat bottom, already stitched up would be the perfect piece.

Can this be ordered from Ford?

Yes they can. Well at least for the 01-03's they were sold by seat bottom and seat back pieces. I can't say for the 05-06's.

just drive down to the ranch, buy one of the cows (steers or what ever they call them). barbeque it up for memorial day and you still got the skin to cover the console. simple, right.

there's a guy on ebay that sells leather kits for the KR that you might want to try. his name is ranchout ed or something like that. it's not a perfect match but pretty close. I wrapped all the handles, pulls, etc in my 02 and it looks pretty darn good I think. cheers...Mike

Yeah... we did a group buy with him a few months ago... he may or may not be receptive to selling leather for purposes that compete with his business -- in fact, I think he may have applied for a trademark on the 'wrap' stuff... not sure.

He will not sell the leather by itself.

Need piece of leather!!

All I need is a piece of leather about 8"x16". Anyone know where I can get one?
There's a burn hole in a panel in the rear seat that needs replacing.

I still have a full seat back and one that I used a very small amount of leather from on my 2001 King Ranch. I don't think I'll ever have a use for the rest of what I have, so if you're interested drop me a line.
