Premature floor mat wear? Anyone?

So my `05 KR has only 9,000 miles on it, and there's already a big spot worn where my right heel rests on the floor mat while mashing the go pedal.

What's up with that? I mean, every vehicle I've owned eventually develops a wear spot there, but for cryin' out loud - this thing is only eight months old with only 9,000 miles on it!

What are the factory mats made of? Why it wear out so soon (me ask)?

My wife has an Audi A6 that is 10 years old with the original factory mats, with just a slight wear spot.

By the way, anybody interested in a 1996 Audi A6 Quattro wagon in really great condition? We just picked up a 2003 A6 3.0 Quattro sedan - woo! What a sweet ride that is. Gotta unload the old one now... but I digress.

So I'm thinking about getting those weatherguard mats.

My mats have never made it out of the factory plastic as I put Husky Liners in on day one...

To me, it does seem a little premature on the wear side though...

I ordered the WeatherTechs around the 2000 mile mark and use them everyday for regular driving. When I take the missus out for a classy night or I need to take a client to lunch, I swap out the liners for the originals. I expect them to last longer than the truck!

Mine started looking bad after about 3000 miles, so I picked up some Nifty Catch-alls. Best thing I've bought for the truck yet.

I have a similar problem with mine but, I've got 52K miles too. Bare spot, rubber mat is OK. Just bought some OEM KR mats to replace my worn mat on e-bay. $39 including shipping, front mats only. BTW what are Husky liners?

My Husky liners are molded plastic that have lips around all sides to keep dirt, mud, water on the inside of the mat. I put mine on top of the stock floor mats. Relatively inexpensive and sold most everywhere.

Here they are: http://www.huskyliners.com/floorliners.html

I'm ordering WeatherTechs right about now... been meaning to do that for a while anyhow. I think I'll get some for wifey's new car while I'm at it...

Every ford vehicle I have owned does this. I just assumed it was my foot placement on the mat that wore it out.

You guys need to stop wearing "high-heels" when you drive your truck.

Serious, I got the ford 150 oem rubber kind the day after I got the truck. There nice, they have deep grooves and really keep the dirt out.

Origional KR mats

Heck you can buy a new set of OEM KR floor mats still in the plastic for $29 on e-bay. Tear them up, throw them out, & start all over.

Hey Cowboy, those are the ones that I just got. Identical to the ones that came in my KR.

Yeah, except those don't fit my truck... mine's an `05 - the shape is different, the King Ranch logo stitched into the mat is different -and the last time I checked, they cost nearly double that.

But yes, I will likely just buy another one and keep it set aside - the Weather Techs supposedly shipped yesterday, according to an e-mail I got yesterday.
