Finally a new mod for Tomas!

Ok, my Mom drove her new 5 cylinder VW Bug Convertable down this past weekend and for a little car it has a lot of leg and head room and has a lot of get up and go.

In any case she has these heated seats that have 5 different settings which is very cool. Or, would that be hot? She can leave them on whatever setting she likes and when she uses her remote start to start the car the seats warm up for her as well. Now because we have a push button for our heated seats we cannot do that. And honestly living in Houston I never use the heat I simply turn on my seat to warm myself up in the morning.

So long story short Tomas is getting his first new mod in years. I am installing different switches for the heated seats so I can turn it on and leave it on so when I use my remote start my seat will be warm for me.

Switches

I'm getting ready to install an auto start on my KR very soon. I'm really interested in these switches. Any links or pics, info on them?

Thanks for any info.

I think you should still have a limit switch on those tho so you don't burn up the heating elements. If they weren't made for continuous use they may burn out if you leave them on for more than the 15 minutes or so that they do stay on. A good mod tho. Living in Northern IL I wish mine would come on with my remote start. Keep us posted how it turns out.

The switch is a simple on/off switch with an led like the push button switch has that will come on when in the on position. I am not going to change any of the wiring as it is already wired so that when the engine is off the heated seats turn off as well.

I asked the "How To" question last month and got a great answer that you can get to via this link.

It seems pretty straight forward; just need to find someone who can get it done for me.

Thank you soooo much. I am pretty sure I have some relays around in the garage so I am going to attempt it this weekend.

I am leaving work now to go and get started on this new project. I have only trusted 2 people with my truck and I would only let 1 of them ever touch it again so I am kinda on my own here so cross your fingers for me because I am not the most talented or mechanical person on the planet....just brave...or completely out of my mind.

Some remote starters have built in relays, and provide a 12 volt positive pulse signal on one of the wires.

Check your remote start manual/schematic.

Well it decided to rain on me on Friday and Saturday and since I can't pull my truck into the garage and expect my garage door to close and be able to move around I didn't get to this project.

But my upstairs bedrooms have new ceiling fans so I guesss I got to play with electrical wires after all.
