how do i go about taking off the factory step boards on my KR? i want 2 put some stainless step bars on it...

 

Get under it, unplug the light harness, unbolt the brackets. Install your new ones.

 

besides the main bolts, it looks like theres some small ones that have locking nuts on them??

 

Probably some kind of nut that is designed to not back off from vibrations such as a KepNut. These should come off easily too.
