Where's the power???

Just purchased an '06 KR Supercrew and don't know if I am having problems or if this is normal. I only have 3K miles, but thus far, the engine seems to have a hard time towing a payload that my previous Chevy Tahoe had no problem towing, i.e. a golf cart. It also doesn't seem to have a lot of get up and go and I hear what seems like transmission noises every so often. Don't know if this is related or not to the power problem. Also, thus far, my best mpg is 12.9, city or highway. Does anyone else experience any of this? Thanks!

Wow! that sounds, really bad. I'll be the first to stand up and say, Ford trucks are not Hotrods. However, they don't have issues pulling things. Sounds to me like you might consider taking that thing in and having them look at it. It should have no problems towing a small trailer. I pulled one up and down the road last weekend in my KR that has full towing package, and I have to keep looking in my rearviews just to make sure the trailer is still there. There could be many of things causing your problem. And it should get far better milage than that on the HWY. I would not wait take it back to the dealer ASAP.

Good Luck,

Yeah, something is very wrong.

You should be getting at least 14-15 MPG's, and with all the torque this engine makes down low, pulling that trailer should be almost without notice.

If you can't get back to the dealer anytime soon, at least try resetting the PCM. Couldn't hurt.

Maybe it's got the timing and fuel delivery settings messed up, somehow.

I have found the on-board computer to be somewhat inaccurate. Are you calculating manually at the pump or is that your computer's figure?

With only 3,000 miles 12.9 for the city is about normal as many dont even get 14 on the highway. I dont think its having a hard time pulling the trailer it just sounds that way. When I first got my 05 Lariat is sounded that way but things got much better now at 5,500 miles
