I have a 03 KR and the windsheild is cracked.
The windsheild has a FORD/Harley Davidson logo at the bottom center is this correct for this truck? the replacement cost is 500.00 if I get just a Ford one its 330.00.
Any help would be great.

 

The $500 is for a OEM Harley winshield, The only real difference between that and a replacement winshield is that the Harley winshield is endorsed and/or manufactured by Ford. I would opt for the $330 myself. Why pay the extra $$ for the exact same thing with a small decal.

Also most glass places will give you a minimum of a one year warranty on both the glass as well as the instalation. Make sure you get that in case you ever a problem with the seal.

 

Thanks, does your KR have the logo?. I was told by the dealer it was rare to have the HD logo in a KR? ford! go figure right.

 

Did you buy the truck new? That is odd for a HD windshield in a KR...

THe KR, stock, doesn't have a special windshield...unless that's something specific for 03'.

Either way, I agree with Cannon... I'd go the route of the cheaper... $120 is a lot of $ for a sticker.

 

I have to question whether this is the original windshield as well if you did not buy the truck new. I have an '03 KR and do not have a special windshield in mine. But stranger things have happened at an assembly plant. Anything is possible. A buddy of mine bought a brand Cougar back in like '89. White with a Red interior. Had a sunroof in it and the slide shade for the sunroof was green or some other weird color. The dealer fixed it of course but you can't tell me that the assembly plant personnel didn't notice that. They just let it pass thru. Maybe an HD windshield got out of line somehow and got put in your KR? Who knows?

 

There's an apocryphal story that in the worst days of British Leyland an Austin Princess came out of Longbridge assembly plant with disc brakes on one side and drums on the other !
I don't know if that has ever been verified or even it it is mechanically possible, but I do know that I had an MG and the badges had been installed on one side but the other hadn't even been drilled to accomodate them !

 

Ive never seen another KR with a HD logo on the winshield. I also have never seen a KR with any type of logo, besides the "Ford" in the lower left. Looks like everyone seems to think the cheaper way is the best for you. Good luck!

 

I did verify that the windshield with the Harley logo was a Harley edition only item. If your KR has it, it's either been replaced or there was a mistake at the assembly plant when it was made. To me, if my truck isn't a Harley, I wouldn't spend the extra money on the windshield. Get the standard. Your call, and your money dude.
