King Ranch... without the leather???

Today I parked next to this F250 at Cabela's in Ft. Worth, and saw something I have never seen... A King Ranch without Castano leather. I was puzzled so I went in for a closer look. It had everything a King Ranch is supposed to. White on Arizona beige paint scheme, King Ranch fender and tailgate badges, Arizona beige running boards, bed caps and grille, trademark KR wheels, and it had a KR logo cup holder and KR floor mats. Why in the world did it have (p)leather lariat seats??? It just didn't seem right - all the thrills, but no leather. Has anyone ever seen this?

Somebody probably killed the leather in it and decided it wasn't worth it to replace it with PITA KR leather.

Or it may be a rebadged Lariat for a wanna-be KR owner. It's easy to get the badges and floormats, replacement wheels also. I've seen several Lariats with the two-tone paint theme and initially mistook them for KRs until I got a little closer.

I don't see many KRs in southern California but on a recent trip back to Oklahoma my wife and I saw several in just the 6 days we were there! However, we're moving back to OK soon so my baby probably won't stand out as much.

That's my hunch. I've seen several.

Wannabe

Yep that's my guess as well, someone bought the Lariat and "King Ranch-ed" it out. They probably didn't go as far as the leather because by then they could have just bought a KR originally for the same $$.

Cheers...Mike

Or maybe they over-conditioned their KR leather in cold weather and then had to give it a proper burial.
