KR Leather In Bad Shape - Connolly In the Cold
Hey all,
Sorry, I usually keep up with the board even when I'm travelling, but recent weeks have been 'round the clock hell. Anyway, I'm back but headed into the high country for some much-needed R&R.
The jury is stil out on the leather, but things have much improved. Having said that, there are still just a few small dark patches that I intend to get after. Also, some of the smaller and more delicate pieces of leather (such as on the seat backs) will apparently just never look the same. It's hard to tell if the conditioner got it or the cleaning of same.
Of course, this is perfectionist me. People still marvel at the KR leather and you average pedestrian is completely ignorant of any hint of a struggle. Unless there's further trouble, I won't be recovering the seats. And I just can't see trading at such a loss over what amounts to cosmetics. I think karma would some how seek me out if I went to that extreme. I'd probably get a lemon with beautiful leather.
And besides, after 13 months, I've still only been home enough to rack up 6,000 miles...
Thanks for the interest folks. I'll post back when I do my '06 winter conditioning in a week or two (praying that no dark spots suddenly reappear, but I can't put it off any longer).

Well, I got 'er cleaned up after a five-day trip streamside up in the mountains. It's amazing how much you can dirty up a truck in that number of days (inside and out)! Put on another coat of wax and all that. Then I went to order some KR leather conditioner and lo and behold...they're sold out; no backorders. So now I'm really in a bind. I haven't conditioned the leather since this fiasco, winter is coming (quickly!), and so I need to do something. It won't be Connolly, it apparently won't be KR, so maybe one of the other products I've got laying around in the garage...

Check this stuff out. I just picked up some of the Leather Oil and it works great!

Read this thread for a comparison I did on the KR Leather Conditioner and the Duragloss Leather Conditioner.

Well, one final good cleaning and a conditioning using the "official" KR product has this leather looking at least as good, if not better (it's more supple, which I guess has more to do with feel than looks) than ever. There are no residual spots and even some of the pieces that I thought would never fully recover look perfect. So case closed (finally!). But see my input to the thread referenced above about the KR conditioner...
