Just can't believe it!!!
Been here over 4 years, 1000+ posts...... and for the first time, I have something (my Charcoal Blue ARE LSII tonneau) that I no longer need..... having been an active CONTRIBUTING member on this site and in the KR forum, I thought I would let other KR members have first dibs on a VERY SPECIFIC item unique to SPECIFIC KR trucks. (before I post in classified/ebay)
What happens? Post gets deleted in less than 24 hours!! There have been NUMEROUS instances where is something VERY SPECIFIC is being sold, it is allowed in the SPECIFIC forum for at least a couple of days as courtesy to the members. I realize "for sale" ads aren't allowed per se in the forum, but I just find it UNBELIEVABLE that it's OK to have MODERATORS consistently recommending NON-SUPPORTING vendors in the forums (for items that supporting vendors also offer) and a "for sale" mention by a long term member in a SPECIFIC forum is not permitted for at least a couple days......
Guess you can say I'm a little PO'd.... after taking the time to help other folks here over the years, take pics of installations, etc, etc and to get treated like this..... and YES, i have checked my email before writing this to see if I would at least get a courtesy explanation hwy my post was deleted.......
Guess this was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back for me..... wish you all luck with your trucks.... for those who want to occasionnally keep in contact, you have my email..... I'm outta here.... this has got to be the most childish thing I have seen in awhile, but it's not my site...
Steve - thanks for allowing me to participate..... you really do need to make some changes here though ..... this was just ridiculous....

Mikey....
Please don't leave !!!
I know how you must feel, and I agree 100% with your sentiments.
I have felt very strongly about issues at certain times...enough to contact the moderator....
(Not Brad I might add)....I never had the courtesy of a reply.
It is amazing to see some of the stupid posts that are allowed (and language)on the general discussion forum.....I actually refuse to go there anymore because of some of the bigots that inhabit the forum....you only have to put up a point of view for discussion that could stimulate genuine points of view and all sorts of nonsense comes back...yet as you say the smallest infraction (Well it's not even that) here and look what happens.
He will say "rules is rules", but no consideration of what some of us have tried to do in educating people to others points of view...let alone the truck think.
Tell you what Mike...If you leave ...so do I !!!!

I just sent this E mail to Mike.....
Hi Mike....
Just in case you don't get the E mail through the F 150 website.
Please don't leave the site even though I know EXACTLY how you feel...see my post after yours to explain.
How can you possibly have a sticky on the general discussion forum...
"Calling all fat bastards"
And others...basically asking...When was the last time you had it ?
Yet you get a post removed that was directly offering to help others on OUR site, that we have done everything to help promote over the years, and look what happens...I'm with you 100%.
I was actually thinking of doing the same.
I have a lot of King Ranch stuff that I will probably put on EBay..you know the planners etc that we were offered with our trucks...and I would have mentioned on the KR forum that they were going onto Ebay, just so regulars didn't miss out...I guess the same would have happened to that post had I done it...and strangely I nearly did earlier today, and I would have brought the items back to the States when we leave to come over tomorrow !!
Anyway please don't leave...
I hope you don't mind I will post this on the site and see how long it lasts there !!
Best regards
John

I thought it disappeared pretty quick after I posted in it. Very odd, I've never had that happen that way either. I've become more of a lurker in the last year or two due to the same type of things. The only reason I come here is because of the King Ranch forum. Once in awhile I will contribute in other places, but not too often.
For what it's worth to anyone reading, I've come to regard the KR forum as a fair bit different than the rest. There are of course far fewer KR owners than non-KR owners. The atmoshpere around here is more relaxed, people take the time to get to know one another, and some of our threads tend to stray a little OT (OK, some start there to begin with - I'm guilty), but no one really minds, it's part of how this particular group works. I think anyone coming in here off the street and listing product for sale should expect to see their thread disappear overnight. However, given that KR stuff is kind of unique, anything specific to it should be given some latitude. And any really senior member, who clearly isn't here to turn a buck, should be given VERY wide latitude and should certainly be shown courtesy.
My two bits...
My two bits...
i'm very new to this forum...i don't usually do forums anyway...but i like the KR forum because i get a chance to read opinions that are honest. i lurked around the other areas of this place, and i don't even understand what they are talking about...they go off on tangents that are so irrelevant that it doesn't even have anything to do with their trucks at all. but in here, things seem to stay on point for the most part...yes, there are the occasional digressions, but not a bunch.
personally, i am happy with the KR forum...but now i'm a little put off that someone with so much to offer has been mistreated to the point of leaving...seems like a huge loss to me...and a huge loss for me...
mike, i don't know you or your posts...but i hope that the people within this forum can raise enough of a fuss to get the moderators to make it up to you...i love my KR and the opinions of the KR forum faithful have helped me in my first month of participation...i don't want to lose any of this valuable experience because of some idiotic moderators who can't distiguish a valued member and a preying carpetbagger...
please reconsider and give KR another chance...

Mike,
Sorry to see you go, but if that is your decision, then that is your decision.
As for your note regarding deletion of your post, it was not Brad that deleted it, it was me.
As is clearly stated on the form where you post and reply to messages, classified ads are not allowed on our forums and are removed when we find them or others bring them to our attention. This has been our policy for several years, regardless of the seniority of a members, and was most certainly not a personal shot at you. You acknowledged that you were aware of this policy in your very post, so it should not have come as a shock that your post was removed.
Removal of the post has nothing to do with politics, supporting vendors, advertisers, playing favorites or anything that conspiracy theorists may come up with. It has always been our policy to not allow classifieds in the forums, which is why we have a classifieds section.
For others that may have an issue with it, I don't think we can be any clearer on the policy than including in red type at the top of the form where messages are posted:
Simply put, threads that violate this policy are removed, which is stated clear as day.

To find out the best way to contact our Supporting Vendors, please see the Supporting Vendors page. To post an item for sale or items wanted, please utilize the Classifieds. All threads in violation of this request will be removed without notice.

Yes of course there is a classified section, but we are making the point that there can be no harm pointing out that something is available that might have limited interest except to this forum.
I for one never think to look at what is for sale, but would certainly appreciate being told that something relating to our KR's was available, even if it was a link to elsewhere.
The main point though is that some of us have contributed HUNDREDS of hours helping newcomers and others with advice and encouragement, both about trucks and other things which crop up.....and maybe a little leeway might show that it had been appreciated.
There are a nucleus of perhaps 10 people without whom this forum would have folded before now, yet the sticky at the top shows that 6000 people have now taken a peek and that the KR is becoming more popular.
Life isn't black and white and this is one occasion where the shade of grey might have applied.
Webmaster....
I wrote the above before I saw your reply, but I think there might have been a way of dealing with it more sensitively than a straight deletion.
Plus...what about my previous comments.....Don't you think you should be addressing more serious issues.
What do you think people think who log onto the general discussion forum, and the first thing they see is...
"Calling all fat bastards"
Really classy isn't it.....plus some of the other threads that don't do justice to a well run site.

Actually, in this case, life IS black or white. The policy is there for a reason (and has been discussed numerous times why it is in place) and when it is violated, the action that we specifically state is taken. We are not going to assess whether or not a member has earned a right to ignore the policy based on their seniority or vehicle they drive. That would not be fair to anyone, so the policy is the policy and deletion of a classified on the forums should not come as a shock to anyone.
I agree with Lenny wholeheartedly.
Don't go Mike. It was quite a knee jerk decison in my opinion to yank it that quick. In fact, I didn't even see it. That's how quick it was deleted. The KR family is a small bunch and this forum is quite different than others on this site. Therefore I think a little leeway should have been granted. At a minimum, a warning before a quick deletion should have been warranted.
