Does Anyone Know If There Were Any Other Gears Than A 3.55 Used In A Kr Supercrew 4x4 5.4l???

I think it seems most are 3.73, judging from other profiles.

 

Yep, I thought most of them were 3.73 LS, like mine, and a 3.55 was available only if you didn't get the towing option.

 

I got the towing optioin (6600) and it's a 3.55 on an 02 4x2. I wish it was the 3.73 now. You can have the rear gears changed for $500-$700 in a 4x2. About double I think for a 4x4.

 

Same with me. Mine's a 2001 4x2.

 

Ditto... 2001 KR 4x4 w/ 3.55 ls + towing package.

Like KRCOWBOY... my 01 was a 4x2 with tow package and had 3.73 LS...

Give FoMoCo customer service a call and they'll be able to help you out on determining which gear set yours came with off of the line in KC.

 

2002 4x4 KR Supercrew (w/tow package) with 3.55 LS here....

I'm surprised to hear the 3.73 LS in their 01 KR's - I thought the 3.73 LS was only available with the 7700 payload package which you could only get in a regular cabs or supercabs with 139" wheelbase.... (01 KR was only supercrew)

 

I have been following this thread with interest. My 1997 4x2 had a 3.55 rear end as did my 2001 4x2 now my 05 4x4 has a 3.73 gear set up. I always thought the 4x2 models had the 3.55 and the 4x4 had the 3.73. Maybe it is just the way they are ordered?

 

I thought the same thing until these other members posted their set up. It seems to make sense to have the lower gears if you have the towing package and/or 4WD but obviously Ford sold them both ways...

 

There's info on f150online somewhere that explains the codes for the sticker that on the door. That will tell you exactly what you have. My understanding is the 3.73 was only available with the 7700# tow package wich also came with the 4r100 tranny also. That package was supposedly not available in the supercrew. This is for the 97-03 models.

The 04+ models are different. Do a search on "rear differential code" or "transmission code". I'd do it, but I gotta go :santa:

3.73 on my 05'. Sorry.

 

if any one is still caring i have 3.73 LS with a 7200# GVWR and tow package on my 05 4X4.
