Small New Gallery - Another Day in the Mtns

Howdy all. I just spent another glorious day in the mountains of Colorado (no firewood excuse this time - just enjoying the fall aspen colors). Thought I would snap a few pics while I was out and post them here.

"Over the hood."

"Flag in the mountains."

Yep, it's pretty. So much so that I'm taking a few days off this week and heading for the South Platte river with fly rod in hand.

Nice pics! Our family has a cabin on Cheyenne Mountain and up at Lake George. I'll be passing through there this weekend on my way up to Montana for the annual fishing trip. Looks like I better hurry or I'll miss all the color.

I just looked at your picture of the Broadmoor - this could have been taken right by our place on McKay road.. The view sure does look familiar.

How could you take all those nice pics and not work the truck into them.

What, you don't like my hood shot?

Good point, actually. I really should have. I was just so taken with the scenery, I guess it never crossed my mind. Dang it!

Sweet. I live nearby Cheyenne Mountain (in the old Skyway neighborhood up from the Broadmoor). I just spent some time camping in 11-mile outside of Lake George. I'm headed back into the high country later this week. Not sure where I'm going to land yet, though.

Where to in Montana? I tried to work it out to get enough time off from the travel schedule to make that same journey, but I couldn't align all the stars.

And yes, you had better hurry. The winds picked up and started blowing down the leaves yesterday. Probably won't last much longer...

Going up to the Yellowstone near Livingston. I keep my Drift boat stored at Lake George (no where to use it in Tulsa ) so I have to go pick it up and then drive to my folks house in south Littleton, then pick up my buddy the next morning and drive up to Livingston. Always a good time.

You bet. Look for a black streak with a whining sound cruising up highway 24 around 3-4 in the afternoon!

Not actually a resident, but I spent a lot of time around Boulder about 8-9 years back. Most of my time there was in the late summer, eary fall and every weekend I would take off to find some mountain road to explore. Of course back then, I was driving a chevy, so it wasn't as pleasant an experience as you're having now!

Beautiful scenery... Reminds me of when I called Colorado my home. Back in 1991, during Desert Storm, I was a Firefighter for the USAF at the Air Force Academy in Co. Springs. Thinking of taking a trip up there soon...

Well, I'm sure you're aware that we have the national fallen firefighters monument here in the Springs. Just held the annual ceremony a few weeks back. You would definitely want to pay a visit there.

This is the perfect time of year to be here, although sudden snow becomes a possibility very soon. I just heard this morning that snow in the high country is a possibility over the next few days. Figures. I'm going camping and fishing on Thursday morning. This happened to me in the spring. Same reportP: snow "possible in the high country." When I get back home tonight, I'll post pics of our very first night in camp.
