belt sqeaking

belt sqeaking

Just bought a 2003 kr with 18k miles and then the belt started sqealling just see if any advice on how to fix it with out replacing belt

While I'm not the guy to describe a fix here... I am going to copy your post to the ENGINES forum to see if someone there might be able to help...

With that in mind, check in with the ENGINES forum occasionally to see if others have responded...

Not sure there's a way to fix it without replacing the belt. You can alleviate it by taking a bar of soap and touching the moving belt edge with it. If that stops the squealing, then that is definitely your problem. If you use enough, it may stop it from squealing for awhile.

Go get a Gatorback @ Autozone/Pep Boys for $35.....last belt you'll need to buy.... be sure to make note of the # of ribs on your existing belt. Very easy to replace - just spring back the tensioner and the belt comes off/on.

I put one on about 25K ago.... absolutely no slipping/squeaks since...
