Dodge "Texas Ranch"
Dodge "Texas Ranch"
Has anyone heard of or seen the Dodge "Texas Ranch" truck? I saw one on a Dodge dealer's lot yesterday afternoon while cruising car lots.
It was a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 Laramie "Texas Ranch" Edition.
The exterior was white with a gold or beige accent color along the bottom of the body identical to our King Ranch. Just forward of the front doors, in the same location as our F-150/King Ranch badge, was an oval shaped metallic sticker (not a badge) placed below the Dodge badge. On the sticker was the traditional Texas "Long Horn" emblem. The word "Texas" was printed over the Longhorns emblem and the word "ranch" was printed along the bottom of the sticker. The truck had the stock Dodge 20" rims only highly polished.
The interior looked like Castano leather minus the oval King Ranch badge on the upper seat backs and center console. The stitch pattern in the seats looked almost identical to the stitch pattern in our King Ranch. The truck did not have Captains Chairs. It had the folding center console which when folded down gives the appearance of Chaptains Chairs but when lifted up looks like a full bench seat. Typical Dodge. The dash had the same dark burelwood plastic inserts as the 2003 King Ranch. Other than that, the interior appeared to be pure Dodge design.
I was actually very surprised to see this. I didn't think there was a Dodge version of our King Ranch but apparently there is. This was a nice looking truck but it was no King Ranch.
Anybody know which came first - the chicken or the egg?

I haven't seen this but, I've heard chat about it on other boards. I'm 99.9% sure that our chicken laid their egg (as is, generally, true with most of the 'botique models' that the other brands are bringing to market).
My hunch is that this is an 'aftermarket' upgrade kit that is either stealership installed or put out by a 'Custom' shop with a contract with Ford as it's not listed on dodge's website as an option.
I'm still wanting to see a few pictures of this thing... A quick Google yielded very little info.

I was looking at someone's gallery on this forum and they had pictures of an F-150 "Texas Ranch". At first glance I thought it was a King Ranch. After a closer look I noticed it was a "Texas Ranch".
I'm guessing they're produced by an aftermarket company.

Yep... those definitely were. They made the 2004 since the KR wasn't offered until 05.
My cousin is parts manager for the local dodge dealer and was telling me about the texas dodge trucks. He said it favored the king ranch and I should check them out, but I just ignored him.
Thats me. I own the 2004 f-150 Lariat "Texas Ranch", and yes, basically it is a KR missing a few things, namely the nice looking logo on the center console lid...but other than that...basically a Lariat with diff badges, interior logos, and diff leather.
Saw an 05 Ford F150 yesterday with "Amarillo" on the rear quarters???
Guess it is another locally done style.

The dealer where I bought my KR, in El Monte California, also had the Super Duty "Amarillo". I didn't look at the interior. I only noticed the big "Amarillo" decals in the rear quarters.
Quick question was the "Amarillo" truck you saw yellow??? The one I saw was yellow.

I wanted to know if it was yellow because "amarillo" in spanish means yellow. I was wondering if Ford was making the truck appeal towards a Texas edition as in Amarillo Texas and then making them all yellow to tie it into the amarillo/yellow in spanish.
Just wondering

Nope, not a "Rumble Bee", no buzzing or stinger hanging off the back, just a big diesel 4 X 4 in BRIGHT YELLOW. Not very good looking truck. With the Amarillo on the rear quarters and all.
Don't mean to offend anyone....but the BRIGHT YELLOW is just too much. Not too many vehicles look good in Yellow or Orange. Only one that comes to mind are the Boss 302's of the day. Oh, yeah...almost forgot...have to cross party lines here, but the Dodge Charger "General Lee" looks good in orange too. Hmmmmm, but Daisy Duke looks MUCH better !!!!
