question for MikeF150

Hey Mike,

you still running your by-pass? I have not heard from you in years, and I just looked at the old thread from when we worked on the install.

Green - yes and it's been running fine.... changing the oil and full flow filter every 8-10K miles and the bypass filter every other oil change. Since I do my own changes, it's real nice to do maybe one or two oil changes a year.... using Amsoil 5W-20 and Amsoil filters - very pleased with them. All the fittings and hoses are holding up nicely as well. Fumoto drain valve has worked well also and is very convenient.

I think Amsoil took my install photos off their web site.... I had bought enough supplies to last me for a couple of years and haven't bought from them in awhile... (at least they sent me a free by-pass filter for using my install photos/instructions! )

Any issues at all with your by-pass?

Regards...Mike

I've been following the suggested plan, change the ff filter every six months, and the bp filter every year. I did that for 18 months and drained all the oil at 21,000. That was Amsoil 0w-30. I ran the first bp filter for 6 months because I wanted to change it out in fall, not spring.

Now I'm running Mobil 1 0w-20. I plan to run this oil two years and 28,000 miles. I'm PMing with another f150 owner who is planning on doing the same install. He was asking about the bracket we used. I went back to that message and noticed you edited out some stuff. I did have it in a favorite, so I sent him that info. I did notice your pictures were on on the Amsoil site anymore, or at least the link was not correct. I had picked up a digital camera last year, and took some pictures, but now I can't seem to find where I stored them.

No issues with mine either. I did notice when I took a 1000 mile trip there was a small amount of oil on one of the connections, but not enough to motivate me to crawl under there with a wrench. Yes, it has been real nice to only change a filter every six months. I still think Ford should design this option right into the truck and service it.
