I set a new record with my KR...

Not that I'm proud of it, cause it's pretty stupid, but.... I was very low on gas today and stopped to fill her up. After $45 on the pump, it registered 24.484 gallons!! I've seen a few threads on the boards but according to the manual don't these things have 24.5 gallon tanks? I was cutting it real close today. And on the interstate even! I was on my way home tho so I could have called the wife to come with some gas I guess. But still, 24.484 gallons? Whew!

Wimp. You had 0.16 miles till you were empty.

Correct.

Come on IL6... at 16 MPG, you still had around 2.5 miles to go. You wuss.

Hey that's what I figured too. Why not go for it. I have to say it was the lowest I have ever seen my gas gauge when the truck is running. I honestly don't think it dropped at all when I shut it off at the station. Oh well. I made it. The $45 kind of hurt tho.

LOL!

Are you looking for sympathy!?! We wanted to hear you say that you had to put 24.912 gallons... not a wimpy 24.484.

You're right though... gas is harsh. Just think, if you'd really gone the distance, you could've run it up to around $45.50 rather than just $45... LOL!

For some reason (the salesman), I thought my 2003 had a 28gallon tank on it and tried pushing the limits on a trip to Big Bend N.P. out in west Texas. Needless to say I was extremly luck to only fall 1.25 miles short of the next gas station in that part of the state. A lesson learned not to be forgotten!

Actually, 24.5 - 24.484 = .016 gallons

.016 gallons* 16 miles/gallon = 0.256 miles

I was using 10 mpg in my reply above.

Either way, I hope I don't break his record!

Boy you guys don't know what it's like to fill your tank and hand over $50.00 and not get enough change for a Big Gulp!!!!

One of the factors living in San Diego where we see gas prices jump up as much as 6 to 8 cents a day.

Oh believe me, it jumps up and down that much in a day here too. I was relieved yesterday when I filled it up, it was only $1.899. When I left Wednesday it was $1.949. Recently the highest it's been is $2.029. Last fall I paid $2.109. I hate it when it's that high. That magic $2 mark really irritates me. Even if it's $1.999 I still feel better than breaking the $2 barrier. I imagine when I go home tonight it will be back up again for the weekend. They like doing that. Raising it up for the weekend travelers.

Cheapest on the street in San Diego yesterday was $2.14/gal. - with average for 87 near $2.26. Expect to see $2.40/gal. within the next couple of weeks.

BTW - did any others see the article where China and India are looking to place long term contracts with the Middle East OPEC countries for crude at or near $50.00 a barrel? The article stated that a bidding war for crude would drive US pump prices up close to a dollar or more per gallon. With Asia the fastest growing economy (China / India) they see $50.00/barrel as cheap.

I need a Mr. Fusion for my KR (like in Back to the Future).

You could always have a SuperDuty deisel with a 45 (I think) gallon tank.

I typically am right on the hairy edge of $50 every time I fill up. Since I use 93 octane for my supercharger and superchip, I have no choice. And premium is about $2.25 a gallon here. It definitely takes me a lot to not carpool with my wife everyday.
