Gotta love the Ford Rep!

I have a 03 kr supercrew and the front two seats have lost quite a bit of their original color. I have been conditioning the hell out of them with the KR leather conditioner and they still are fading. I waited a couple months to see the rep about the problem and he made magic happen. He said that what they can do is try to have the front seats re-dyed at a local upholstery shop. He said the reason for trying to re-dye the seats is because if he just replaces the seat covers that it will be completely different looking material from the original. He told me that they have changed vendors since the production of my truck. He said if the dying process does not work he will go ahead and change out the entire interior to make sure it all matches. GO FORD!!!

It is refreshing to hear of a rep taking good care of a customer but, I'm not sure that everything is quite right with what he told you (however, I may be wrong).

According to my sources at Ford, the initial covers for the King Ranch interior were made by a company out of Tennessee. Those covers were for the 2001 through 2003 models. The 2005 covers are being made by another company who's corporate office is located in Maryland.

None the less, I'm happy that they're jumping through hoops to make this happen for you!

Well, there's no doubt that you're going to get new leather. Ford tried to dye my front seat and it didnt work worth a darn. Made the seat worse actually, and to top it off they spilled dye on the carpet, so they had to replace the carpet in the truck. Morons should have done what I told them to and just given me a new seat of leather in the first place, but NO

SC02, what dealer did you go to? I bought mine from Maroone Margate. 7 months old and my front seats are fading extensively despite efforts to militate same.

World Ford in Pembroke Pines. The only reason they gave me new upholstery was because there was a mark from the hangtag that went around the headrest...and that part was dark and the rest of the seat was faded from when I bought the truck, and they told me it would come out with conditioner...it didn't, and 6 months later I went back and got a new seat.

Good luck trying to get them replaced...they will say it's 'normal wear.' I tried everything to get my steering wheel replaced but that didnt fly...and it was a significant difference.

One of my '03's is in the shop for some warranty work right now, and I brought the fact that my steering wheel leather was almost black from my greasy Italian hands to my service reps attention. I got a call today, he said it would be replaced!

If your steering wheel "happens" to be coming apart, ie the stitching I believe ford will replace it. They are replacing mine due to this "unfortunate" condition, but I am still under warranty.

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L is all i can say. I got all new leathers except for the steering wheel. Go ford. I think it helps when you personally know the ford rep.

Thumbs up Steering wheel replacement

Finally got my truck back from the dealer, I had the entry keypad replaced, the running boerd lights, and of course my "DEFECTIVE" steering wheel. The leather is a little different on the new one, it actually has a more padded feel to it (much nicer!). Just thought I drop a line after I got it back.
