Keyless Entry
Keyless Entry
Thanks RockPick for the nice Welcome, I hope you managed to dodge those tornadoes last night!! Iknow thet came right through your area.
Here's the question...
My KR is equipped w/ keyless entry on the door and the Dealer I bought it from could not (would not) tell me what the 5-digit factory preset code is. I stopped by a local dealership tonight to ask them to pull it off of the ECU for me. I was told it would cost $79 for a diagnostic and 1 hour labor. Plus, I would have to drop it off in the morning and leave it with them all day. WTF! Are they kidding me??
Does anyone know of a another cheaper, easier way to find this code? Like maybe taking it to Autozone and having them check the engine codes or something like that?
TIA- Kevin

Well, I bought the truck used and the original owner's manual did not come with the truck. Nor did the spare key, extra remote, or the key to trailer hitch lock.
Luckily for me, my neighbor,Felix, works at the Louisville Ford truck plant and he came over today to admire my new toy. While I was giving hi the tour, I started to complain to him about how the dealer wanted to charge me $80 bucks to tell me what the code was. He snickerd at me and then he showed me where the sticker with my 5-digit code was hidden! (Driver's side under the dash. You have to literally stand on your head to see it but it was right there, plain as day.)
**Felix, You the Man!!
**
So now I'm really P/O'd at that dealership that wanted to charge me some ridiculous fee to get the code off of the COMPUTER. I mean, I suppose it is possible the the guy was a dimwitt, and just simply 'didnt know' but still- it looks bad, right?
Just because of this I am now going to go somewhere else when I need service or parts.
Thanks BD!

Your dealer....or at least the person you were dealing with....really needs to be taken to task over that.
Anyone dealing with Ford products should know that if a vehicle is fitted with Keyless Entry the code should be somewhere inside the vehicle.
As far as I remember on my Lincoln Town Car it was on the side of the hinge in the trunk !
It is there for the very reason that the code may not always be available for a second/third owner !
Good that you got it anyway..... !

Where, exactly, is the factory code? I've looked on the driver's side under the dash...don't see it.
I bought my truck used, as well. The card with the factory code was not included with the owner's manual, so I have no idea what it is. Would certainly like to know...
Can you give me a clue as to where it's located? Thanks!

Sorry to get off topic. I, too, hope all us Hoosiers and midwesterners made it through those Memorial Day weekend storms. I was back home in Indy for the greatest race in the world and had 160 people over at the family compound, pig in a pit, kegs, tables, canopies, etc. We fought rain delays all day to get the race in and, then once Buddy Rice took the checkered, fought tornados the whole rest of the evening. Hope that means five straight years of beautiful weather on race day. That turned my annual post-Indy 500 into a potential disaster. Most of the severe damage was on the south side of Indy though.

Hi Folks, haven't posted anything in awhile but wanted to jump in on this one.
As some of you may remember, a few months back I was having a problem with the dome and running board lights cycling on and off for no apparent reason.
I took the truck to the dealer 3 times previously and they did everything from resealing the windshield and replacing the GEM to re-adjusting the door jar switches.
I went outside Sunday morning to wash the truck and the same thing was happening again, to say the least I was P*****. I drove the truck to the dealership and left it in front of their door with a nasty note saying I wanted it fixed. They were finally able to duplicate the problem, and traced it to the keyless entry module which they are replacing. The truck has spent almost 4 weeks at the dealership for this problem
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will fix the problem. I'm also going to try to get them to give me a big discount on the Extended warranty.

EErrrr....Don't think so !!
I'll concede that you might get away with the greatest race in North America......
Have you ever been to an F1 race at Monaco, or Nurburgring...or 5/6 others ?!
That's where you are getting into "Greatest Race in the World" category.
Mind you I do understand where you are coming from....
That place that holds a world series.....that no one else in the world takes part in ! (Or cares about even !)

Can anyone be more specific as to the location - or since my truck has had the remote starter installed am I out of luck?
Appreciate all replies. Thanks.
Update: after spending time searching each post dealing with Keyless Entry I found a specific answer by: 03sonicbluebolt that was so easy to follow - the big white box way up under the dash above the brake (big black numbers).
Just finished putting my personal 5 digit code in place and it's working fine.
Thanks 03sonicbluebolt.
