Rear window trim/gasket?

I'm new to the forum and very glad to have found it. Ya'll have already answered a few questions I've had.

I own a 2003 F150 Supercrew KR with the electric sliding back glass. There is a rubber trim around the entire back window that cmoes together directly under the sliding window. I recently noticed that the ends seem to be sliding apart. Does anybody know if this is just trim or a gasket to keep water and dust off of the window moter? Is this something I should be concerned with?

Thanks

Hello Cruisr and welcome to f150online.com!

On a 2003, the rear window has a gasket, hard plastic/fiberglass ring, and then the glass (respectively, working from the roof downward to the glass).

I'm assuming that you're talking about the hard plastic piece as the rubber gasket actually seats around the edge of the hard plastic...

As far as your rear window motor is concerned, it's hidden behind the plastic on your back cab wall INSIDE your cab.

If you have a picture it might help out!

Forgot I had this picture...

Where the arrow is pointing?

I have a 2001 model (the rear window configuration changed in 2002) but, I have the newer version/design (like yours) as I installed a powr slider.

I know what rubber gasket trim he's talking about My 2002 King Ranch kinda having same problem.. it stated to pop off. I was up at the dealership I asked them to fix it but they gimme the 36K speach bull****, They told me you'd have to unbolt the whole window from the rear pulling all the plastic and stuff.. so I end up putting out some needle noses and putting back in place myself.. I think Car Washes do it... I think the gasket keeps the water from getting inside the window... I'd try fix that just incase. Maybe little black Appox. glue would hold it in. If you're under 36K miles take up the dealer make'em fix it. Also anyone ever hear and noises come from there rear windows? I've got a squeek in my truck I can't find, deal told me could be door jams or rear windows. I thought it was the ball joints nope

It's probably a good thing that it wasn't in the ball joints! That's a pricey fix there...

If you're interested in removing your rear glass, follow this link.

It's really not that difficult but, that's in hindsight and I had my wife helping me out (which might have made it a little more difficult).

Thanks for the info. I'm at 32k after just over one year. A trip across Texas followed by a house hunt then move halfway across the US to the N.C. I'm going to try to get her in to a dealer next week. I have a few other small things for them to look at. Have any of you had the same problems:

1 CD-6 player acts up sometimes. I'll put a new cd in and it will start in the middle of some random song.
- along that point, I know the official answer is it does not do that. But, when I purchased the truck I was told the cd player will shuffle between cd's and the book says it will, but it won't. I've asked a couple of dealers and they say there is nothing they can do.

2 My passanger side front speaker makes a strange sound when it tries to hit a certant mid tone. I don't crank it up or even have the bass turned up.

3 My KR plac on the side has bubbles forming under the coating.

Has anyone had the same problems and if so was there any problem getting them fixed?

Thanks

I had the problem with the 6 disc changer not shuffling between dics. Kind of pisses me off because the wifes Escape will do it just fine. Checked a couple others out at the lot shortly after I bought my KR and they didn't do it either. Think Visteon just changed the thing not to do it, but Ford never changed their owners manuals.

I have a friend with the escape. The cd player looks the same but I guess looks can be deceiving. My wife asked a dealer about putting the escape cd player in the KR. He said he couldn't do it. Now I don't know if he ment could not do it under warrenty or it will not work.

I really wish they didn't put the friggin' 6-Disc Changer under the arm rest it's a really pain in the butt to get out esp while your driving if you dare to even try it! Why couldn't they just install Front load Disc changer like my brothers 2002 F-350 has grrr.

I also wish the cd player wasn't so close to the pass. side seat can't stand when ya g/f or your cases the wife leans over changes the radio / cd... Grrrr Damn Females!

I guess this would be man bowing down to females.

The speaker sounds (no pun intended) as if it has either been pushed beyond its capacity or has been damaged physically in some other way. I've had this happen (not to my KR, thank heavens) and the speaker would 'buzz' when the volume would increase, especially with strong bass. The speaker cone had been torn.

the speaker only makes that off sound at certant mid-low tones. It sounds good at lower tones. Even at low volume. I also have not turned up the bass. I'm thinking it might be a physical problem with the cone, possible during instalation. I'll never get ford to admit it though.

I haven't liked the sound of my 2003 KR speakers from day one, I'm considering going to Car Toys or Circuit City and having them replace the front ones with something better.

I installed some Pioneer speakers a while back and I've been nothing short of pleased.

I bought two sets (TS-6865 3-way Pioneer) off of ebay for little to nothing... best investment I've made on the interior.

Hmmm...
I don't really have any complaints about the speakers. I think they sound pretty good as factory systems go.
But my volume control does something really flakey though. Almost every time that I turn the voulme down (counter-clockwise), it will go up, almost to max. If I continue to turn it down it will go down and up several time before it finally gets low enough to hear myself think.
I'm sure that this is just something unique to my stereo and I have already gotten used to using the mute button, But it can still be a problem when I have someone else in the truck and they go to turn it down, Then WOW!!

Does anyone have a suggestion for a fix? Or maybe one of you has upgraded your stereo and dosen't need you factory one anymore....? *wink wink nod nod* $$
