Leather Care - UV fading
I have noticed that the leather in my KR is lighter in the front than the back. Im pretty sure this is b/c of UV fading. I have had the truck since November 2003 (the truck is an '03). I havent used the conditioner at all because the dealer didnt give me any. I have ordered some conditioner through off the KR sight. What will this do to the leather? In what way will it condition?
I have also seen on some other KR's with the seats worn to the point where they dtart to turn black and they weren't even that old. How do I keep this from happening? I have noticed it on the steering wheel.
Thanks

If there is a distinct difference in the color of the leather......
ie.... it is noticeably lighter in the back, then you have an issue because of possible fading.
HOWEVER, make sure it is not simply that the front seats are slightly worn and possibly dirtier.
(Am I assuming your truck was pre-owned or did you buy new?)
The conditioner feeds (keeps supple) and cleans at the same time.
The KR product was thoroughly tested prior to being made available, and in my opinion does an excellent job.
With respect to your noticing that some KR leather and the steering wheels are turning black, then the answer is simple.
THE LEATHER IS NOT BEING LOOKED AFTER PROPERLY.
Quality leather in an environment like a truck seat is going to need looking after as well and almost as often as the exterior paintwork of the vehicle.
It isn't difficult or arduous, just needs 20 minutes once a month maybe.
I suspect that there are those who have bought the KR to use as a working truck (OK I know we all use them like that sometimes, but you know what I mean), and either don't care how the leather looks or don't have the time to care for it.....in which case they should have considered another seating option in the first place.
I also suspect that this is really the first time ever that a real top quality leather product has been offered in this type of vehicle, and to be blunt it's not the ideal material.
However as we all know we love the stuff and it makes our trucks into something special.....and that something special needs caring for !

Thanks for the information. I did however buy my truck new and it is a 2003. I just bought it late in the year. The front seats are lighter than the back but it doesn't look bad. I have had the truck since november and have not used the conditioner. I am ordering some conditioner though. Thanks
