Castano Leather Care

Im new in the neighborhood. Im sure this subject has come up in the past. What is the best way to keep the Castano leather clean and conditioned? I've used a couple different products and I'm not really impressed with the results. I was at my local Ford dealer today looking at the 04 F250 KR. (nice ride) I noticed they had a brochure tied to the seat about how to care for the leather. It looks like Ford puts out a particular product for the Castano leather. Has anyone tried that before?

Thanks for the help,
Ron

I still want to try that stuff that Mike mentioned as it sounds like a great product. I just haven't gotten around to doing it... life is chaos right now.

I have, however, experimented with numerous leather conditioners out there and have kept coming back to Lexol conditioner. I found it to be better than the Fiebings and the KR conditioner from the KR Saddle Shop.

Of course, opinions on leather care are scattered here. Some love the KR stuff. Some love Lexol. Some like the Fiebings. And even more like other stuff. It's all about trying a couple out and using what you like and find to give the best results.

Like waxing a vehicle, surface prep is very important. You need to make sure that the leather is clean before you apply conditioners or other products for softening/conditioning. Not doing this will significantly reduce the life of the hide.

Not sure if anyone else here is using it, but the conditioner I found the best by far is Leathermaster, which offers an entire line of furniture grade leather care products for both treated leather and untreated analine leather. I found the best combo to be the conditioner followed by a light coat of their Waxon product. It really gives the leather a buttery feel. Not cheap, but compared to the other more popular brands out there, I found the result indeed noticeable. Here's the link: Stainsafe-Leathermaster

BTW... where are you in NJ?

Im right next door in Clifton.
