2001 Pre-owned KR Screw

Am new to the forum. Like others, our family has been finding slim pickings on remaining '03 KR Supercrews. However, found an '01 that looks very promising. Under 24k miles, w/ a moonroof, 4x4 5.4L Triton, skid plates, KR tonneau cover.

A few questions for all y'alls consideration...

Any issues w/ this vintage KR that I should be concerned about?

We prefer the '03 tubular lighted sidebars to the '01's. Ditto on the wood style interior panels on the '03. Where can we get them or would an average dealer's aftermarket services be able to provide?

Any mechanical issues with the moonroof?

Anyway, the we're seeing the dealer again on 12/26. If any y'all have the time, we'd look forward to hearing from you.

Merry Christmas y'all.

Being a 2001 owner myself, I can't point you to much to look out for but, from my past experiences, I can reference a couple of items.

First, watch the rear sliding window. Mine leaked as it was an 'early' style rear glass. If it's leaking, make sure that's factored into your deal.

Second, watch the latching system for the seat covers. This can be viewed at the rear of each of the front seats. The clasps that hold the cover on the seat have a tendency to unsnap. It's not that big of a deal but, it's something to have them do prior to leaving the lot if they're unlatched. Mine have unlatched approximately 12 times since I purchased it. They can be relatched on your own but, I've cursed it numerous times. It also helps to have about 5 hands to relatch it.

Third, paint issues. Climb up on it and view the rain gutters. Make sure that you don't see tiny 'cracking' in the paint. Some of the early 2001s had a slight flaw in the paint application process that caused premature curing and thus caused cracks in the clear/paint. I have this on mine to a certain degree.

Fourth, make sure the leather in this pre-owned truck is in good shape and not scuffed bad nor discolored in any exaggerated way. Watch the steering wheel as that seems to be a problem area for many.

I think that's just about it. I hope that helps out just a tad. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to ask!

Sorry for the late reply. Was sick for Christmas!

Anyway, finally made it over to the dealership and they had sold it this morning. Damn!

Thanks for the advice, for what it is worth.
