Saddle Bags

Saw a VERY old mention of saddle bag flap not staying attached/shut but no real discussion. 2001 appears to be magnetically held closed with the worlds weakest magnets. Others with the same problem ??
Any fixes ????

The mention was probably mine.
Someone saw a pic. inside the back of our truck and noticed the Texas atlas on the floor.
They questioned why it wasn't in the saddlebag.....however it was a bit too tall and the cover wouldn't drop over it.
Personally I've never noticed the magnets being weak and if stuff is inside the bag ours tend to stay shut.
Of course on the 2002 they dropped the flap cover anyway, so perhaps there's your answer.

Our '02 has the flap covers. Cover doesn't want to stay closed when I have the atlas in it.

I have an 01' as well and have identical problems with my driver's side flap. The passenger side stays perfect...

Also, a common issue that came up back in the begining was the saddle back coming 'unlatched'. The sides of the saddle bag area would come out of the hinged snap that holds it in place and just dangle there. It's easy to fix but it was a pain in the butt.

When my flaps don't stay shut I just pull the bag up and adjust it so that the flap snapps on correctly. It is quite a pain that the bag itself has the tendancy to drop if you have anything heavy in them. It is also a pain when the bag comes loose from the hinged snap. They do make for great conversation though.
