Seat Replacement

Whilst having my transmission leak repaired for the 3rd time, I had the service manager look over the front seats of my truck. I pointed out to him the obvious discoloration of the vertical part of the seat as compared to the sides, back and rear seats and he agreed to talk to his zone manager and try to get me some new seat covers, which he was able to do. Yea!!

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm blaming this on the fact that my truck was built in May of 2001, sat on a lot in the Salt Lake City sun all summer until I bought it in October. I live in NW Wyoming, and I think that the winter cold may have an effect on the leather also, but the rear seats are holding up OK. Any Thoughts?

Yo Bronco,

Long time no talk to, hey? Sorry to hear you've got tranny troubles but at least it doesn't sound too serious. As for your truck seats, mine was built in April 2001 and it sat on the lot until September 2001 and I've noticed some discoloration too, but I blame myself mostly for not conditioning enough. Hmmm, maybe I'm blaming myself for something that I shouldn't. I'm sure KRSC02 would pay mega bucks to get the old skins for his secret projects.

Later,

Daveman-
My tranny leak was taken care of and all seems well now. Not a major thing but a small leak that I had to keep an eye on. I think there's a chance that I brought the last repair on myself by overfilling the tranny when it was cold. It's possible. OK likely. Allright allright I'm guilty!! (Maybe)
As far as the seats, I condition those things pretty religiously, although it's tough to do in the winter as much as I'd like. How do your rear seats look? Mine are as good as new, nice and soft. The fronts are what took the beating. I even use some custom F150 carshades that cover the front door glass from the sun as well as the windshield. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

BD,

Glad to see you made it back in here.... there are a few of you that only emerge occasionally. We'd like to see you all around more often!

Also, it's good to hear that the tranny leak issues are resolved. Just assume that you didn't do it. hahaha!

After hearing that you had some success in getting that cover replaced, I think I might check on it to see if they'll do that for me too. It's a long shot but, if I sweet talk my service writer 'just right'... she's always been good to me.

My front seats show only expected wear from getting used everyday. Obviously, my driver's side is the most worn. The seat bottom is shiny because it has been used so much. I condition fairly often, although now that it is over two years old, I have to do it less often. I have dark tinted windows and the windshield shade is always up around here. Never sat on the lot. I took delivery the day it arrived at the dealer.
