KR Meeting later this year.
KR Meeting later this year.
A while ago we were considering the possibility of a get together of KR owners.
Daveman tried hard a couple of years ago and though 3 of us met up it wasn't exactly what Dave had envisaged !
Then more recently we rather bludgeoned dear ol' RP to consider meeting up in his locale.
However despite a non too subtle hint from me a while ago he has remained quiet on the subject...probably not surprising considering the Tee Shirt/Sticker effort that he put in !
My location in the US is not exactly conducive to meeting there...it's about as far south as you can get without being in Mexico.
Even the King Ranch itself is way south for most folk.
Also the chances of getting a bunch of people to agree on a location and time is next to impossible given the size of the US.
(Though I will be travelling 5000 miles to get there !!)
If anyone would really like to meet up (and I do have doubts about the serious need or desire to do so) then I would be happy to co-ordinate it if enough people commited to the idea.
I think it would really have to be centrally located although the King Ranch is obviously the right place to be.
To give some substance to the idea I will suggest last weekend in September or first weekend in October.
Any thoughts will be put into the melting pot....

I'm definately in, I am also extremely south. I think that New Orleans would be cool, or maybe RP's Louisville as well
.
Sounds like a perfect time to me!

I remember when they gave us a final okay on the use of 'King rancH' they said to inform them if we have a get together, maybe some freebies?? I remember they said soemthing like that, RP, i'm sure will attest to it
.
I don't think I'd be able to drive all the way to Kingsville, as it is atleast 1500 miles. To Louisville it is 1100 miles, and even better, to New Orleans, it is only 800 miles. New Orleans i think would be sweet, especially the food
But it wouldnt be too sweet for the northerners, like Skagel in MI, LINY in NY, & Mike in NJ. It seems like everyone else is in the south or midwest. Just throwing out ideas here.

Maybe a few "regional" get-togethers would work?
Texas, Louisville and someplace West maybe.
It would seem that RP has all our zip codes and I seem to remember seeing software somewhere that would map out where people are concentrated to pick the best locations. Retailers use it to decide where to put the next store.

Here's my take...
1st, I'd LOVE to do something like this but, I don't think doing it down at the KR is practical for 90% of us. A few small get togethers for those of you that are down that way would be aweseome however; for those of us that live 'up north' (like skagel in MI or IL6fan in IL), it's just not practical unless you fly down to TX and rent something which, in my opinion, takes the glamor out of being able to roll into the KR...
I'm all for a 'middle of the country' type meeting and no, I'm not recommeding Louisville even though it is about as 'middle' as it comes for the core of our group.
Indeed, I have addresses for everyone that jumped on the shirt buy and I'd be happy to look at the demographics as well as the geographical dispersion to see where a good place might be.
We have people spread all over the country (and world) and we must realize that we have to do this where the core would be able to be best centralized.
Give me a day or two... I'll look into it.

My family and I will be driving the KR to Chicago the last few days in October for a wedding on the first of November. We've tentatively planned to meet with RockPick and his better half in Louisville on the 30th or 31st of October, "HALLOWEEN"...
I don't think I could justify making two trips to see RockPick in the same year, hahaha j/k RocketBoy...
I'd love to meet a few more KR owners and to drink a few beers together and tell a few lies; well for RockPick it'd be a bunch of beers and bunch of lies, j/k Rock.

No matter where you guys decide to meet, it will likely be too far for me to consider (unless it's Ny State - unlikely). You'll have to send along some pics after the fact and I can live vicariously through the ones that met up.
Fall and distance are problems with me. The whole "kids in school" thing makes non holiday (like Easter break etc) get togethers tough.
I will hopefully be in Vegas around New Year but that's usually a bad time for everyone and I won't be driving
(I HATE to fly!)

This is a great Idea and I would like to attend. Bear in mind that I' am from Alberta, Canada and I like the idea of having a central location for the meet. The idea of having it at the King Ranch in Kingsville Texas is the best idea in my opinion as it is traditional and I was going to plan a holiday to tour the King Ranch anyways.
I' am not a cheap person on holidays, I like my fine Scotch and Hiltons it is just the differance from the Canadian dollar to the U.S dollar I might need my fellow King Ranch buddys to pool some cashola together
. (jokeing).
.
Lets start the ball rolling on this I would really like to attend.
Or how about you all come to canada, and you can enjoy the good Northern life for a while, theres lots of Bed and Breakfasts to stay at like this one that my Dad and Mom own www. onthelakebb.com or theres lots of fancy accomidations too.

That is one sweet lookin house you got there pat. how could you let a stinkin dodge in the corner ruin your picture like that!
I'm glad that people are still liking this idea. It's not up to one person or a single organizer, it's up to everyone!

The Dodge is the neighbours PROBLEM, the nick named it the pump. Every morning they go out to start it no matter if it is 40 below or 100 above all you hear is click, click, click and it trying to start, as they are pumping the hell out of it and praying it will start before the battery dies. The dealer said some of the 2000 360' s are like that and there is no fix.
I just laugh and they keep telling me there are going to buy one of my trucks and they never do.
As for the house it is my Castle I love it front yard consists of all water, My marina is below.

You DID read the first post in the thread didn't you ?!
I'm glad that people are still liking this idea. Obviously there will be people that won't be able to attend, and although we would like everyone there, it is just not possible, no matter how hard we try. Kingsville would be cool, no doubt, it's just that not too many people would be willing to venture so far south. A year or two back, DAVEMAN tried to organize something exactly like this and everyone said they were gonna go and it ended up only being him and Skagel. So I think if we get a firmer commitment , etc., it might work.
