Question Need everyone's advice and vote

Ok so the KR isn't coming out in '04. I've come to grips with that. Not really but not need to keep crying....

I currently drive an 92 escort that is dying. I haven't done anything with it because I've been waiting on buying my truck.

The way I figure it here are my options.

1. Wait until 2005 and get the exact truck I want. Problem is waiting will likely kill me.
2. Break down and buy the 2004 Lariat...have the new truck I've been waiting on but, ***yuck*** standard car leather.
3. Try to find and buy a 2003 KR. Have my KR but not the '04 style I want.
4. Buy an XLT 04 and trade it in when the KR 05 comes out. Problem here is I ain't no millionaire and eating the depreciation will hurt worse than driving a GM.

(Which by the way I was just told because my company has a contract with GM we are eligible for their discount. Talk about insult to injury, I can save 1000's if I'll drive a bowtie)

So what's the opinion and why.

Thx everyone.

Jim.

Posting to the 2004 forum as well, those fellers won't have been infected with the KR leather, which may alter the opinions I get here.

Get the 03 (some great incentives right now) or wait on the 05.

Oops. I just posted on the other thread, trying to talk you into an '03. Maybe you get an x-pin for an '03? Even without the x-plan, the dealers are doing honkin' deals out my way. Like I said on the other thread: You won't regret getting the KR. I've owned a total of 11 Ford trucks from a '22 T up to the KR and it is the best, by far.

I've owned a couple of GM products and their trucks don't compare. I thought the new Silverado SS was a cool idea, until I drove one.

Vader...

STOP! Put down the GM brochures and back away slowly!

My stepfather worked for GM for 40 years and I tried to use his discount.

By the time I found a truck that compared even remotely (in my eyes at least) to the KR it was considerably more than the KR.

I drove a couple of Avalanches (the idea piqued my interest) but the only one I liked was the 8.1 liter guzzler.

I also drove one of the "Southern Comfort" pre modded designer trucks (I was trading my Lightning and wanted something that at least sounded good)

My feelings (and my wifes as well) are that the GMs just "felt" kinda' chinsey. The leather was crinkely and thin and already cracking on one of the "new" trucks (definitely not 7yr old resistant). The fit and finish just wasn't there and the F-150s just "felt" more solid.

After talking to the dealer (already had an offer from Ford) the trucks came out thousands higher than the KR even after the employee discount.

The "Southern Comfort" pre modded job had 17" tires, a new exhaust, some "stick on" looking fiberglass trim and a fade paint job that really looked good from a distance but when you got up close it was easy to see just how atrociously bad the paint and mods looked.

To make a long story longer...

Get the '03!!!!!!

I vote wait till the new KR comes out.

1. you can save the dollars till then and have a nice down payment.

2. You get EXACTLY what you want. I'm not one for compromising.

3. Some of the bugs that will most likely come with the new design will be ironed out by then.

If your current rig is falling apart, trade up to a newer beater until you can get what you want.

Common man, you can do it. Just a little longer.
