Again, let's focus on the positive here guys. Don't let this little bump in the road set things back and screw this entire thing up. A lot of us have quite a bit of time already invested in this thing to go back to square one and start over and/or dissolve because we don't like corporate America's view on trademarks and contractual agreements.

Think positive. We're on the brink of something very cool here and don't need to break down at this point.

Further, I don't think modifying the KR brand would be the route to go after already pursuing approval from their people. I know that this was run through a corporate attorney for KR and we are in the headlights now. They're looking at us. We need to represent what KR is about and continue to strive for the original vision of what this club is all about.

Sure. I'm with all of you in that not being able to use the logo sucks. It's out of our hands. We're going to have to either move on or just call it quits. I, for one, am NOT in favor of dropping everything and saying "boo hoo... we can't use the Running W... I'm going home and I'm trading my truck tomorrow"...

Positive folks.... think positive. We've cleared a major hurdle in that we have the backing of KR.

Also, I got another letter from King Ranch last night...

Bradley, let me know when you are going to have a gathering and I’ll try and work up a give away piece for you. How many members are we talking about?
See... they're looking at us already. Already offering freebies. We've got something good here...

All engines ahead full.

Trademarks and Patents are huge deals in this country. Although very disappointed that we cannot use the KR logo, I understand it completely. The concensus says let's move on without the W and make our own logo, and I agree 100%. Let's move forward and not backward with the negativity towards KR and make this club happen.

It sounds like a perfectly good legal excuse & I don't blame them one bit. There's no telling what kind of legal ramifications could be involved.

Rockpick and you other guys,

I am sorry about the hardships with the club logo, but I am a business major and understand how contract complications can be a pain sometimes, I have experience living by the rules of my parent's divorce settlement contract. I am sure you guys will get through it and find a great compromise though. I know that I am not involved with no King Ranch (at this point in my life, affording one is a stretch anyway with college, but still worked my a$$ off to pay off my favorite truck), and I do not know what prospects you have for the decals yet for the club, or the shirts for that aspect, so excuse me if I am intruding in deals that are already going on with that. My father's store is slowly getting into vinyl decals and signs and pretty much anything else related to vinyl, and he also has the ability to embroider graphics onto knit shirts, baseball hats, and tons of other stuff. I was wondering if you all would be interesting in a bid from him regarding your shirts and/or decals (I am not sure if he would be interested in it since he is just getting into it as of a few months ago though, so he may not be interested). I will ask him if he is interested after I find out if you all are interested, and he would probably be able to produce a decent bid for anything, but even if he is not interested at this point, I thought I would present the idea to you all. Tell me if you all are interested and good luck with the efforts of the club, your hard work will pay off.

Greenbuck,

I'll email you in just a few minutes concerning what we'd like to have. A competitive bid situation would benefit all of us if he is interested.

Thanks.

I have an idea for the new logo. How about the initials 'KR" written in a flowing script ala the running W? I haven't tried to perform this stunt, but I thought maybe Joe could work some magic.

If all else fails we could use the existing logo but just delete the running W. I like Joe's design very much but I am open to suggestions. Once again thanks to all for their efforts.

That's generally the way I, personally, would like to see this go. We have a GREAT working base to go from. Going back to step one would be a big loss on what we've already accomplished.

Joe did a KILLER job on the logo and I think a few simple tweaks will get it to where everyone will be able to digest and stomach it in a much easier fashion.

Putting something like 'Est. 2003' or the letters 'KR' (thanks J), or something along those lines in place of the branded W...

Hey Guys,

I'm really steamed about this whole matter. I think I'm going to put a "FOR SALE" sign on my King Ranch. On second thought - NAH. On a serious note, if we put our heads together we can come up with something else.

This is what I was thinking about for the logo. I'm terrible with this sort of thing - drew this in Paint in about 5 sec.
What do you think?

I think Chaos's looks good, with a circle around it and black/brownish lettering it would look like a brand.

I wasn't really coming down on KR, I understand corporate branding etc. (although as a corporation I don't think I would ever let someone elses requirements dictate how I could use my logo ). nuff 'o' that.

The point I was trying to stress is that there are a great bunch of people here some of whom have put a great deal of effort into this idea. The idea was born from that. To be honest I had no idea who KR was before I bought this truck , I bought it because I fell in love with it, (I was even trading in my '00 L!).
I check this board daily because I like the discourse (good or bad) that happens with this nutty bunch (I lurk because I never have anything intelligent to add ).

I think this is where the club has it's strength and heart regardless of the support of KR. (besides RP if we can get some of those freebies...)

I like the EST. 2003 idea as well.

Let's keep it up all, it's conditioning season!
