Have to vent!

Not trying to be a cry baby, but what is this world coming to?http://www.fordtruckworld.com/mygallery.asp?id=8483
Only 16 and has a 2002 King Ranch, even with 17K, it is still very expensive! I started mowing yards when I was 12 and earned all of my money and saved for stuff. Bought my first vehicle at 16 (1986 Ranger) have owned 26 vehicles doing it the right way and 98 % of the time always made some money on them, got my first home at 25 and was just able to purchase a King Ranch at age 27. I have worked my butt off to buy the things I want (worked very hard and tried to be financially smart), and I see a 16 year old who has a KR. Sorry, just had to vent. Petty of me!!!

Heyheyhey...

take it easy there damon. i'm 17 and i have a king ranch. the only reason i have it is because my other 97 f150 was totaled when a drunk driver in a lexus ran a stopsign and smashed the shiznit out of my truck. got insurance money and put out another 10k to cover the rest. oh, and mine is a supercab...no way in hell i would be able to get a supercrew, i have to agree with you there man. in my school there are 5 L's, 4 HDScrew's, and beamers and lexuses up the azz. I love my truck, and i bet you i appreciate it and take care of it better than most people out there. mine is always the shiniest in the lot and always stands out. anyways...i've gotta go kick the crap out of the S.A.T. right now (starts at 8). l8r guys.

Sorry, when I wrote that I was totally tired from a long week. So tired, I couldn't even go to sleep. Just hit me to see that at the wrong time. He is just lucky I guess.

DCM....

Don't be too hard on yourself!

It is difficult for an older generation to understand that the world moves on.

It's more difficult for me as I am probably at least one generation on from you !

A year or so ago I made a similar post about a 16 year old who had a new truck.
Reaction was similar..."Why not!"
I was 18 before I had my first (Very old) car, and it is hard to see how such young people afford both the initial purchase costs of such vehicles and the crippling costs of insurance.

One hopes that they appreciate how lucky they are.
Also to drive at such a young age with such seemingly inadequate driver training.
Here I DO speak from experience having held a UK licence for more years than I care to remember, an International Licence, a full Race/Rally Licence, and a Texas Drivers licence for 12 years.

Believe me ( and here I am awaiting some strong rebuttal) the US licence test I took was a total joke.

I have brought several US friends over to Europe and the reaction to driving conditions is quite interesting to see.
Generally European drivers count reaction times in milliseconds and US drivers use a calendar!
Witness the lack of willingness of US drivers to pull over to the right and the aeons they take in overtaking on the freeway!

OOps...think I got off the subject.

You should see the winter Texans down south though !
They go everywhere at 20 mph and they are convinced they are such safe drivers.
Trouble is they rarely ever give a turn signal and one has to guess which way they will go, plus they have a superslurpbig guzzle in one hand and their dear little pet doggy on their lap as well. (Oh and probably taking a cellphone call also!)

And YES I really have seen that happen!

Now DCM I'm venting as well so don't feel so bad !!!
