KR Specs
I bought my '02 KR used and didn't get a manual. Does anyone know where I'd find specs on my truck? You know, transmission type, wheel size, engine specs, curb weight, turning radius, the whole 9s.
Or you can find many of them on ebay for around $5.
You can look on Yahoo autos or many of the other auto websites for specs. A few of the specs you ask about are listed on the sticker between the driver's side doors. The tranny is the 4R70W, the wheels are 17x7.5 KR (I believe both of these are on the sticker I mentioned).

I bought a used '00 Ranger a couple years ago and it didn't have the owners manual either. I had my dealer order me one at no charge. I feel it's part of the vehicle new or used. Makes you wonder tho, what exactly do people do with these things? What use do you have for a manual of a vehicle that you no longer have? People really slay me sometimes. Just a thought.
I take it you have never been to an old car swapmeet then huh?
I used to go all the time with my dad when I was growing up.....kinda helps explain my love for vehicles.....people keep these and sell them years later.....and let me tell you they can be worth a lot to somebody willing to pay the dough....take fo example....say you buy an old '69 mustang GTO....of course unless you bought it from the original owner the manual is gone....you can't order one from the dealership.....how much would you pay to get one and where would you go to find one? yeah yeah I know "Ebay" but when I was a kid Ebay didn't exist....car swapmeets did and still do.
FYI I have the owners manual for everycar I have ever owned....so yep I am one of those people who sells the car and swipes the manual.

OK Skagel, you're on my list now. You keep those manuals? I had a '66 Mustang and bought a repro owners maunal for it. That I can see as they are old and you never know. But for a '00 Ranger? Oh, well. By the way, what exactly is a '69 Mustang GTO? Careful now, you are talking with a Mustang fanatic, as I have a Mustang tattooed on my body. I know what a '69 Mustang GT is, but is the GTO a rare model that I have never heard before?
I still attend the old swap meets, have for years, and I guess you have a point about keeping them, but it is frustrating when you buy a used car and no manual. I guess that's why I'm back to buying brand new ones. Up to 778 miles now on the KR. Almost time for an oil change.

I think she mixed up the Pontiac GTO and the Mustang GT. I went the more powerful route with my 68 Torino GT (390). Well, actually it was my dad's.

All of the manuals and documentation were with my 98 F150 when I bought it in August, but I know that my dad takes the manuals out of the cars when he buys them and puts them int he filing cabinet. I broke that "tradition" with my truck because I hit the realization that if you are stranded on the side of the road with a problem that the manual can help with, then the manual will not help much if it is not with you and is at home. I am sure other people have realized this and leave their manuals in their cars. It also helps the next buyer b/c the previous owner may leave it in the car/truck permanently and sell the car/truck with the manual still in it. Just my two cents.
I agree with you all (except you Skagel! ) that the manual should have been in the truck. I bought the truck used (only 6 months old) and the manual did not come with it.
The dealership that sold it to me (not Ford) gave me a 2001 XLT manual, but thye weren't willing to pay for the $50CDN manual from Ford. Neither was my Ford dealership. I even called the head office myself.
I'll have to check EBay, I guess.

Did nobody teach you that you are supposed to actually read the manual before driving the vehicle?
No, but seriously if you read the manual and understand your vehicle then when you are stranded on the side of the road you won't need the manual.....heck 1/2 of the manual is all about programing you radio anyways.

Sarah......
Since I often can't remember offhand how many vehicles I actually own.....the chances of remembering everything significant about each drivers manual are slim...especially with my grey cells dropping off as rapidly as they are.
What exactly are you doing anyway with the manuals you retain from your vehicles ?!

LOL
Honestly.....I keep them in a box someplace in the basement.....Tomas has his in the glove box....I keep them in the vehicle until I sell them.......heck between my owners manual collection and my collection of baseball/hockey/ and basketball cards from the 70's & 80's I should easily be able to pay for my kids college tuition.

Sarah, something else we agree on (like having two or three vehicle!) I too have kept all of the manuals from my vehicles. Heck, I kept the one out of the 2001 Supercrew and it is still in the plastic wrap. These baby's sell later on in life. I have had to buy an original for the 78 Trans Am and I paid 20.00 for it!!
Here's an idea !!!
Next time I sell a vehicle I'll keep the wheels, maybe the seats, oh and of course the engine....and sell at a later date for profit !
THE DRIVER'S HANDBOOK IS PART OF THE VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE PASSED ON WITH IT !!
I would have thought that as the vehicle gets older it is MORE important to have that reference for fuse values, bulb replacement etc. etc. and it is really annoying to purchase a pre owned vehicle without one.
Especially with audio systems becoming more complicated too, where a combination of button presses perform differing functions which would be IMPOSSIBLE TO GUESS WITHOUT A REFERENCE GUIDE !!
Leave handbooks in the glove box, where they should be.
Do I guess you take the tools out too !!!?
