Engine Mods vs Warranty Issues

I've been looking through all the F150 message boards for the past few weeks trying to figure out just which mads I want to do to my truck..

One issue I haven't seen addressed is what happens if you install a chip, intake kit and whatever else on the truck and then you have to take it back to the dealer for warranty work?? Has anyone had any problems from Ford or the dealership concerning mods made to trucks still under warranty.

These are questions I would like have answered before spending a lot of money to modify my truck now or decide if I should wait until the warranty runs out.

well, the law states they have to prove that the mod caused the fault. the fact is though that they will try to screw you if at all possible.

If you get a chip you might want to consider the super tuner because you can just unplug it from the port before taking it in for service.

As for an intake. I had a frod service tech tell me that my K&N can cause problems with the MAF sensor and it wouldn't be covered by warranty if it went out. If the problem isn't related to the mod then I dont see how they can void all the rest of your warranty.

If you are worried then dont mod. till you get off warranty and pay off your truck, heh.
